Job description

Follow the Action. Find the Story. Make the Content.

Some content gets planned, the best content happens when somebody is there to catch it.

Backyard Breaks is looking for a Videographer & Content Editor to join our Fort Lauderdale studio and work closely with one of our main on‑air personalities, capturing the moments that happen throughout the day and turning them into fast, entertaining, scroll‑stopping content.

This isn’t a job where you’ll spend your entire day waiting for footage to land in your inbox.

You’ll be where the content is happening.

Around the studio. Behind the scenes. During live shows. In conversations. At events. In the moments nobody planned but everybody ends up talking about.

Your job is to recognize those moments, capture them well, and turn them into content that feels unmistakably Backyard.

If you naturally think, “Wait! Get the camera,” this might be your job.

What You’ll Do
  • Work alongside one of Backyard’s primary hosts to capture content throughout the day
  • Film behind‑the‑scenes moments, conversations, reactions, challenges, sports takes, studio life, and whatever else the day gives you
  • Turn raw footage into polished short‑form content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other social platforms
  • Find the story inside everyday moments, not just point a camera at them
  • Build strong hooks, pacing, tension, humor, and payoff into your edits
  • Capture clean, creative footage without slowing down what’s happening around you
  • Identify spontaneous content opportunities and be ready to shoot when they happen
  • Pitch ideas, formats, recurring bits, and concepts that fit the personality you’re filming
  • Stay plugged into sports, internet culture, trending formats, memes, sounds, and conversations
  • Edit quickly enough to take advantage of moments while they’re still relevant
  • Collaborate with the broader content team while taking real ownership of the content you create
You’ll Crush This Role If You…
  • See content everywhere. You notice the funny reaction, unexpected conversation, ridiculous moment, or perfect one‑liner before somebody has to tell you it’s worth filming.
  • Know how to tell a story. A good clip isn’t enough. You know how to turn footage into something with a beginning, build, and payoff.
  • Understand short‑form. Hooks, pacing, captions, cuts, sound, timing, retention: you know why people keep watching.
  • Can shoot AND edit. You’re comfortable behind the camera and just as comfortable turning that footage into a finished piece.
  • Move fast. You understand that sometimes the difference between relevant content and old news is a few hours.
  • Have creative instincts. You don’t need someone handing you a shot list every morning.
  • Know when to disappear. You can follow someone throughout their day without making every moment feel staged or overproduced.
  • Have personality. You’ll be working closely with talent, so chemistry, communication, adaptability, and a sense of humor matter.
  • Love sports. You know the players, storylines, debates, moments, and cultural conversations fans actually care about.
Your Toolkit

You should be highly comfortable with professional editing software such as:

  • Final Cut Pro
  • CapCut or similar short‑form editing tools

Experience with After Effects, motion graphics, color work, audio editing, photography, or additional production tools is a major plus.

More important than which buttons you know how to push, though, is whether you have the creative judgment to know what makes something worth watching.

Sports Knowledge Matters

Backyard Breaks lives at the intersection of sports, collectibles, internet culture, and live entertainment.

You should genuinely follow sports and understand the conversations happening around them.

You don’t need to walk in knowing every card set ever released, but knowledge of sports cards, breaking, collecting, hobby culture, Whatnot, Fanatics, or the larger collectibles world will definitely help you hit the ground running.

This Probably Isn’t for You If…
  • You need every shot planned before you start filming
  • You only want to edit and don’t enjoy being behind the camera
  • You’re uncomfortable approaching talent with an idea
  • You wait to be told exactly what content to make
  • You aren’t interested in sports or internet culture
  • Fast turnaround makes you miserable

This role requires someone who can create structure without needing structure handed to them.

What You’ll Get

Paid Time Off: PTO and additional company benefits.

A Front‑Row Seat: You’ll be creating content from inside one of the fastest‑moving companies in sports cards and live sports entertainment - not watching it happen from the sidelines.

Who We Are

Backyard Breaks is the #1 live‑streaming sports entertainment company built around breaking culture.

Every day, our personalities entertain a massive online community through live breaks, sports conversation, collectibles, events, social media, and the unpredictable moments that happen when cameras, competition, and sports fans collide.

We don’t want to simply post more content.

We want to make content people send to their friends.

And we’re looking for another creative person who wants to help us do it.

Ready to Run With Us?

We’re not looking for someone to quietly sit in an edit bay waiting for assignments.

We’re looking for the person who sees something happening, grabs the camera, gets the shot, and already has an idea for the edit before the moment is over.

If that sounds like you, grab your camera and come join the Yard.
