Job summary

Dolby seeks a researcher in video coding and processing to advance next-generation compression and processing technologies. You will develop algorithms, proofs of concept, and evaluate end-to-end performance in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Expert knowledge of AVC/HEVC/VVC, deep learning for image/video, and strong C/C++/Python skills are required; willingness to travel internationally and to Sunnyvale for meetings.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in electrical/computer engineering or computer science.
• 3–5 years of experience in video compression or ML-based visual computing.
• Strong research background in video or image coding and processing.
• Proficient in Python/C/C++ for image/video coding; TensorFlow or PyTorch experience.
• Track record of publications or patents in video coding/processing.
• Excellent written and verbal English; team player who can work independently.
• Willing to travel internationally 3–4 times per year and to Sunnyvale for meetings.

Responsibilities

• Understand system context for new technologies and requirements.
• Create early-stage conceptual models showing feasibility.
• Document and present new algorithms in standards, patents, papers, and meetings.
• Represent Dolby technology interests in industry associations or standards bodies.
• Maintains high technical and moral integrity in the workplace and marketplace.
