Job summary

San Diego FC is seeking a Video Analyst to deliver comprehensive video and data analysis for the first team, supporting coaches with technical and tactical insights.

They will collaborate with a multidisciplinary analysis department to cover opponent, training, and post-match analysis, aligning with San Diego FC’s style of play and providing coaches with immediate tactical feedback. Travel for domestic and international engagements may be required.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in a field related to Performance Analysis.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience within analysis (or similar role) working with coaches and performance staff.
  • Proven track record of establishing and delivering a robust performance analysis system around video and data.
  • Excellent knowledge of current and emerging tactical developments.
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks based on impact to organization.
  • Expert knowledge on analysis tools, specifically Hudl Sportscode, Studio, Catapult MatchTracker, Wyscout, other video telestration tools.
  • High level of soccer knowledge and experience, specifically within MLS, USSF, CONCACAF and FIFA.
  • Passport and ability to travel domestically and abroad.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in the provision of video analysis across the first team, covering all aspects of opponent, training, live & post-match analysis
  • Perform comprehensive analysis on upcoming opponents, highlighting strengths, weaknesses and overall strategies to produce a master database
  • Deliver opponent game plan presentations to coaches and players in a team meeting setting
  • Be responsible for individual analysis within a designated unit group
  • Where appropriate, provide live training analysis, with live coding and feedback for coaches and players
  • Attend all first team fixtures, managing workflows to integrate data and video feeds to provide coaches with immediate tactical feedback
  • Compose post-match analysis to highlight key insights for coaches and players
  • Support in the maintenance of a tactical best practice library from first team matches
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary analysis team to produce streamlined, consistent workflows
  • Collaborate closely with coaches to deliver information together
  • Database and organize all video materials for accessibility purposes
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines
  • Adhere to any other requests that meet the needs of the organization

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting to SDFC’s Head of Football Development, the Video Analyst’s primary duties and responsibilities will be:
  • Lead in the provision of video analysis across the first team, covering all aspects of opponent, training, live & post-match analysis
  • Perform comprehensive analysis on upcoming opponents, highlighting strengths, weaknesses and overall strategies to produce a master database
  • Deliver opponent game plan presentations to coaches and players in a team meeting setting

Qualifications & Experience
  • Candidates can meet the qualifications for this role with a combination of education, experience and skills.
  • Postgraduate degree in a field related to Performance Analysis
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience within analysis (or similar role) working with coaches and performance staff Professional experience within multi-disciplinary teams in elite sport
  • Proven track record of establishing and delivering a robust performance analysis system around video and data
  • Excellent knowledge of current and emerging tactical developments
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks based on impact to organization
  • Expert knowledge on analysis tools, specifically Hudl Sportscode, Studio, Catapult MatchTracker, Wyscout, other video telestration tools High level of soccer knowledge and experience, specifically within MLS, USSF, CONCACAF and FIFA
  • Passport and ability to travel domestically and abroad
Preferred Experience
  • Coaching and/or playing experience preferred
  • Practical experience with data visualization tools a plus
  • Strong verbal, written, in-person and presentation communication skills
  • Process driven with careful attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, data collection, planning and leadership skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or multi-lingual fluency
