Job summary

LSCVA in Glendale, AZ seeks an experienced staff attorney in victims' rights to lead hearings and argue novel areas of law up to AZ Supreme Court. The role demands strong organizational skills, commitment to client advocacy, and ability to work in a fast-paced nonprofit setting.

You will provide direct representation, collaborate with the Victim Advocate, maintain confidentiality, and contribute to building case law and public outreach.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited university.
• Licensed to practice law in Arizona and in good standing.
• Excellent written and research skills in law.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct legal representation for victims in criminal courts and protective orders.
• Attend hearings with or on behalf of clients.
• Collaborate with the Victim Advocate and other staff on client issues.
• Develop, maintain, and update relevant case law and subject matter in case files.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy of victim clients.
• Provide information about the criminal justice process and about victim rights.
• Advise on protective order concerns and related issues.
• Assist with interactions with employers, landlords, and academic institutions.
• Write and file motions/pleadings on behalf of clients; participate in community outreach.
• Complete required timesheets and reports timely.
• Support in recovering evidence-related property; other duties as necessary.
