Job summary

Qualifications

• To qualify at the GS-8, one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-7.
• Specialized experience includes determining eligibility for victim-witness services, maintaining a tickler system, assisting with compensation applications.
• Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors.

Responsibilities

• Respond to victim inquiries by phone, e-mail, letters and fax; screen eligibility for victim-witness services.
• Maintain resource materials identifying counseling and treatment programs; receive calls from victims/witnesses about difficulties.
• Provide information on schedule changes, court status, incarceration details, and post-sentencing notifications.
• Orient victims to the Crime Victim Compensation Program and assist with applications.
• Coordinate with law enforcement to return evidence or obtain reports for services.
• Assist VW staff with court logistics and witness preparation, including restitution information.
