Inside Philanthropy is not the employer for this listing; the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is seeking a Victim Witness Services Unit Assistant to support victims and witnesses through case proceedings. You will inform clients of rights, explain procedures, and assist with referrals and documentation.

This role requires fluent Spanish in many interactions and frequent coordination with multiple courts and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field.
• Minimum of two years' experience in all areas or required knowledge for Victim Witness Services Unit Assistant.
• NOVA and/or COVA Advocate certification preferred.
• Highly preferred: Spanish speaking proficiency (speaking, reading, writing).

Responsibilities

• Inform victims of their rights as per Colorado statutes and the Victim Witness Services Unit role.
• Explain court processes, procedures, and legal terminology for district, county, and juvenile courts.
• Educate victims on emotional, mental, and physical reactions and provide needed support.
• Communicate with victims and maintain documentation.
• Provide referrals to victim compensation funds, mental health services, social services, medical resources, and financial assistance programs.
• Screen victim impact statements for restitution requests and follow-ups.
• Assist with front desk duties, answer calls, and update staff on check-ins.
