Job summary

C.A.R.E. of Atchison County, Inc. is seeking a full-time victim advocate to provide confidential support services to individuals impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.

This role focuses on safety planning, crisis intervention, and connections to community resources. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in a related field, 1–2 years of crisis intervention experience, trauma-informed knowledge, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 1–2 years of crisis intervention, advocacy, or human services experience.
  • Trauma-informed care knowledge and understanding of DV/sexual assault dynamics.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and complete state-mandated advocate training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential support to individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Perform crisis intervention, safety planning, and case management.
  • Coordinate with shelters, court advocacy, and community resources.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years working in crisis intervention, advocacy, or human services.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of trauma-informed care, the dynamics of domestic violence, and local community resources.
  • Skills: Strong active listening, conflict resolution, and written communication skills. Bilingual capabilities are a major plus.
  • Requirements: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and complete state-mandated advocate training.
