The Vice President will lead Optum Health’s integration and transformation program, unifying and aligning multiple businesses, care delivery regions and capabilities, supporting our One Optum Health goal. This leader will be accountable for accelerating operational integration of key capabilities. The executive will lead corporate planning & strategy – building and supporting execution of the Optum Health strategic plan, priorities and key initiatives.

The role will work with senior leaders of regions and businesses to design the right operating model to achieve both efficiency in operations and effectiveness in service levels, quality and patient and provider experience. The leader will work with the People Team and business leaders on organizational design – driving decisions regarding which components are local, regional, or central/national – and determining the appropriate management processes and governance to facilitate the right level of collaboration across the businesses. This work will determine the appropriate service levels, financial investments and technology required. This role’s responsibility goes beyond integration of capabilities. The role is also responsible for truly transforming performance to enable One Optum Health with the highest efficiency and most streamlined experiences for our patients and providers.

This role is the key leader charged with architecting and leading our strategic priorities, corporate planning and business transformation program. This person will partner with the senior-most regional and business leaders to support the design and execution of corporate planning, strategic initiatives and the business transformation programs. The Vice President will be responsible for influencing cross-functional leaders as well as developing and managing direct and indirect team members supporting the work.

This leader will be a highly motivated, strategic executive-level who is organized and thoughtful, with demonstrated problem-solving and collaboration skills to navigate across a large, matrixed organization, with executive-level written and verbal presentation skills. This individual should have a successful track record of managing large transformation programs and business integration efforts.This position handles and manages confidential material relating to corporate plans, decisions, organizational structure and technology platforms. The Vice President will report to the Optum Health Senior Vice President, Transformation and Corporate Planning and will be accountable to the Optum Health CORE (executive) leadership team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and lead the Transformation Office to support and execute on business transformation and integration programs
  • Develop a platform to shape a collective management agenda and influence/cascade transformation across the organization
  • Create the infrastructure and processes to track, measure and respond through detailed program management processes and tools
  • Build a strong management process that holds leaders and teams accountable for driving delivery to milestones and value capture
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder communications and buy-in
  • Coach and partner with regional, business and function leaders to develop and implement tactics to meet key goals and milestones
  • Continue to identify opportunities to evolve and improve the transformation office to tackle key value creation opportunities
  • Anticipate areas of difficulty/potential unknown risks, contribute to creative solutions and move to action quickly

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in progressively senior management positions in healthcare operations and/or consulting
  • 8+ years of experience leading internal consulting teams with 10+ FTEs and matrixed reporting relationships for a healthcare organization or regional operations or general management experience in care delivery
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale transformation and integration programs in complex, matrixed organizations
  • 8+ years of experience working directly in care delivery settings
  • 8+ years of experience leading strategy and business transformation programs including corporate planning, cost reduction and globalization

The salary range for this role is $191,800 to $364,800 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
