Job description

GenSystems Power Solutions is seeking a Vice President, Strategic Accounts - Data Center & Hyperscale Power Solutions to establish and lead strategic customer development across the West Coast data center and AI infrastructure market from our Santa Clara location.

This is a senior commercial leadership role focused on developing executive relationships, originating large-scale power opportunities, and positioning GenSystems with hyperscale cloud providers, AI infrastructure companies, colocation operators, data center developers, utilities, independent power producers, EPC/EPCM organizations, and mission-critical infrastructure partners.

The successful candidate will bring direct experience working with sophisticated data center customers where power availability, utility constraints, time-to-power, generation capacity, equipment lead times, and infrastructure execution directly affect project viability and deployment schedules.

This is not an information technology, software development, cloud application, SaaS, or general enterprise technology sales position.

The role is centered on the physical power and infrastructure required to support hyperscale, AI, GPU-driven computing, cloud services, and large-scale data center development.

GenSystems provides scalable gas turbine and distributed power solutions for customers facing utility interconnection delays, grid-capacity constraints, accelerated construction schedules, temporary or bridge-power requirements, resiliency needs, and rapidly increasing electrical demand.

Strategic Mandate

The Vice President will be responsible for developing GenSystems' strategic position with a concentrated group of high-value hyperscale and data center customers.

This executive will:

  • Build direct access to senior decision-makers within hyperscalers, AI infrastructure companies, colocation operators, developers, utilities, IPPs, and EPC organizations.
  • Identify customer projects where permanent utility power cannot meet required energization schedules.
  • Originate large-scale commercial opportunities involving mobile gas turbines, bridge power, behind-the-meter generation, distributed generation, microgrids, BESS, and resiliency solutions.
  • Lead the commercial relationship from early customer engagement through technical evaluation, commercial structure, negotiation, contracting, and project handoff.
  • Establish GenSystems as a strategic power partner rather than simply an equipment supplier.
  • Build repeatable account relationships capable of supporting multi-site and multi-campus development.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Leadership
  • Own executive-level relationships with selected hyperscale, AI infrastructure, colocation, and data center development accounts.
  • Build account strategies that identify customer growth plans, power constraints, procurement structures, technical stakeholders, project pipelines, and decision-making processes.
  • Develop relationships across energy, power procurement, infrastructure, real estate, site selection, engineering, construction, operations, sustainability, finance, and executive leadership.
  • Establish multi-level relationships rather than relying on a single customer contact.
  • Develop long-term account plans designed to create repeat and multi-project business.
Opportunity Origination
  • Identify projects affected by utility delays, grid-capacity limitations, equipment lead times, accelerated construction schedules, or temporary power requirements.
  • Translate customer energization requirements into commercially executable power opportunities.
  • Originate projects involving:
  • Microgrids
  • Battery energy storage
  • Resiliency and backup power
  • Integrated generation and storage solutions
  • Develop commercial opportunities from early market intelligence through qualified pipeline and contract execution.
Executive Commercial Development
  • Lead executive customer meetings, strategic workshops, commercial negotiations, and partnership discussions.
  • Develop commercial structures aligned with project economics, equipment availability, customer schedules, and GenSystems margin requirements.
  • Lead or support negotiation of major agreements, including MSAs, framework agreements, commercial terms, equipment commitments, capacity reservations, and strategic partnerships.
  • Maintain executive-level credibility when discussing large capital projects, project risk, commercial economics, schedule constraints, and long-term customer relationships.
  • Understand the relationship between:
  • Utility interconnection timelines
  • Campus MW requirements
  • Generator and turbine availability
  • Fuel infrastructure
  • Transmission and distribution constraints
  • Site readiness
  • Position GenSystems where alternative generation can materially improve a customer's speed-to-power.
Market Development
  • Develop strategic relationships with utilities, natural gas providers, IPPs, developers, landowners, EPC/EPCM organizations, electrical contractors, engineering firms, equipment suppliers, and infrastructure capital partners.
  • Monitor hyperscale and AI data center development activity throughout California and the Western U.S.
  • Provide leadership with market intelligence on customer expansion, power shortages, project timing, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.
  • Represent GenSystems at strategic industry conferences, customer meetings, and executive forums.
Pipeline and Revenue Ownership
  • Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of large-scale data center power opportunities.
  • Establish disciplined opportunity qualification, forecasting, CRM documentation, and executive pipeline reporting.
  • Maintain clear ownership of opportunity stage, decision criteria, customer commitments, competition, technical requirements, and next actions.
  • Convert strategic relationships into measurable commercial opportunities and booked revenue.
  • Support annual bookings, gross-margin, pipeline, and strategic-account objectives established by executive leadership.
Internal Leadership
  • Coordinate closely with GenSystems engineering, applications, project management, operations, finance, legal, supply chain, manufacturing, and executive leadership.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear internal commercial and technical actions.
  • Ensure commercial commitments are aligned with equipment capability, delivery capacity, project economics, and execution risk.
  • Help establish the operating rhythm and commercial discipline of the Santa Clara organization.
  • Support future hiring and development of the West Coast commercial team as the business grows.
Required Qualifications

Candidates are expected to meet the majority of the following requirements:

  • 15+ years of progressive commercial, business development, strategic account, infrastructure, power-generation, or data center experience.
  • Demonstrated experience operating at the Vice President, Executive Director, senior commercial leader, or equivalent level.
  • Direct experience working with one or more of the following:
  • Colocation operators
  • Utilities
  • IPPs
  • EPC/EPCM organizations
  • Demonstrated executive relationships within the data center, cloud, AI, or power infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Proven experience developing and closing complex, high-value commercial opportunities.
  • Experience with large capital projects and long sales cycles involving multiple technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between data center growth and power availability.
  • Demonstrated ability to originate opportunities rather than only manage inherited accounts.
  • Experience leading executive negotiations, customer presentations, commercial strategy, and major account development.
  • Ability to operate independently in a developing regional organization while leveraging broader corporate resources.
  • Strong commercial judgment, executive presence, written communication, and presentation capability.
  • Ability to travel throughout California, the Western U.S., Houston, and customer/project locations as required.
Location and Work Environment

Primary Location: Santa Clara, California

This is a West Coast market-building leadership position. The successful candidate must be able to maintain an active presence in the Santa Clara / Bay Area market while traveling to customer locations, project sites, industry events, Houston, and other GenSystems locations as required.

The role requires significant customer-facing activity and should not be positioned as a primarily remote executive position.

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, energy, construction, finance, or a related discipline preferred.

An advanced degree or MBA is beneficial but not required where equivalent executive commercial and industry experience is demonstrated.
