UHP partners with leading physician practices, creating a cohesive, quality-oriented clinical culture and facilitating best practice sharing across the platform. Our affiliated practices gain access to a broader suite of services, providing a meaningful benefit to both physicians and patients. UHP's best-in-class clinical program covers three sub-specialties (urology, gastroenterology, and radiation oncology) and offers numerous ancillary services, including pathology lab, in-office dispensing, and chronic care management. We are led by a highly accomplished management team and provide a full suite of management services to its affiliated practices. UHP is currently affiliated with 182 providers consisting of 119 physicians and 63 advanced practice providers operating out of 54 locations across Southern, Central, and Northern California.

Position Summary
The Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management (VP of RCM) will lead and optimize all aspects of Unio Partners' revenue cycle operations to maximize financial performance and operational efficiency. This role encompasses strategic oversight of billing, coding, claims submissions, denial management, collections, reimbursement processes, and compliance. The VP of RCM will ensure adherence to all federal and state regulations while implementing best practices and leveraging technology to enhance revenue cycle operations across the organization.

This role requires a transformative leader capable of modernizing revenue cycle functions, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring P&L accountability. The VP of RCM will lead multi-disciplinary teams, optimizing workflows to improve key performance indicators such as Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), denial rates, and clean claim submission rates.

What you will be doing

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive revenue cycle strategies aligned with Unio Partners' financial goals and clinical objectives.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously assess and improve revenue cycle processes, including billing, coding, claims submission, denial management, and collections, to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Technology Utilization: Oversee the effective use of the Athena One EMR and PM system, ensuring that technology is leveraged to optimize revenue cycle processes and reporting.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all revenue cycle activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as payer requirements. Implement robust compliance programs to mitigate risks associated with billing and coding practices.
  • Financial Reporting: Provide regular reports and analyses on revenue cycle performance, including key metrics such as DSO, denial rates, and collection efficiency. Use data to inform strategic decisions and operational improvements.
  • Staff Productivity Management: Develop targets and lead and monitor on continuous basis staff productivity by respective roles and responsibilities.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor teams responsible for billing, collections, cash applications, coding, denial management, and DSO improvement. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clinical leadership, IT, finance, and other departments to ensure alignment and support for revenue cycle initiatives.
  • Patient Financial Experience: Enhance patient financial experience by implementing clear communication strategies regarding billing, improving transparency, and ensuring responsive customer service.
  • Ancillary Services Integration: Oversee revenue cycle processes for ancillary services, including specialty labs, pharmacy, radiation therapy, and clinical trials, ensuring these services are effectively integrated into the overall revenue cycle strategy.
What You Will Bring To The Team
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare revenue cycle management.
  • Experience overseeing revenue cycle functions across multiple specialties, including ancillary services. Strong understanding of HIPAA, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and payer-specific requirements.
  • Proven leadership and strategic management skills in Revenue Cycle Management with a focus on billing, collections, and denial management.
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare billing processes, cash flow management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in revenue cycle technology, including EMR/PM systems (Athena One preferred) and data analytics tools to drive performance improvements.
Travel
  • May involve limited travel to California corporate or administrative offices or provider offices.
