Job summary

Established Search partnered with a medical device innovator to recruit a Vice President of R&D to lead vascular and neurovascular product development in the United States. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership across engineering, design, regulatory and clinical teams to advance next-generation catheter-based technologies.

You will drive development from concept through verification, validation, regulatory submissions and commercialization, mentor a multidisciplinary R&D

Qualifications

• Senior R&D leadership experience in vascular, neurovascular, peripheral vascular, endovascular, interventional or catheter-based medical devices.
• Proven track record of taking concepts through development, verification & validation, regulatory approval and commercialization.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary R&D, engineering or product development teams within a growing organization.
• Experience working with physicians, KOLs and clinical teams to translate clinical needs into product concepts.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company's R&D strategy and product development roadmap across vascular and neurovascular portfolio.
• Lead design, development and lifecycle management of catheter-based and minimally invasive devices.
• Build and mentor a high-performing multidisciplinary R&D organization across engineering, product development, design, materials, prototyping and operations.
• Partner with Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing and Commercial leadership for successful development and market introduction.
• Establish robust R&D processes, design controls, development methodologies and stage-gate processes.
• Work with physicians and clinical stakeholders to understand unmet needs and incorporate feedback into development.
• Support intellectual property strategy and identify opportunities for patents.
• Establish and monitor budgets, timelines, resources and milestones to align with objectives.

Established Search is proud to be partnering with an innovative and fast-growing medical device manufacturer to recruit a Vice President of R&D to lead the development of next-generation technologies across the Vascular and Neurovascular markets in the United States.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced R&D leader with a strong background in vascular, peripheral vascular, neurovascular, endovascular, interventional or catheter-based medical devices to join a highly innovative organisation at an exciting stage of growth.

The successful candidate will take a strategic and hands‑on leadership role across the company's R&D organisation, driving new product development from early‑stage concept through engineering development, verification, validation, regulatory submission and commercialisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the company's R&D strategy and product development roadmap across its vascular and neurovascular portfolio.
• Lead the design, development and lifecycle management of innovative catheter‑based and minimally invasive medical devices.
• Build, lead and mentor a high‑performing multidisciplinary R&D organisation spanning engineering, product development, design, materials, prototyping and technical operations.
• Partner closely with Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing and Commercial leadership to ensure successful product development and market introduction.
• Establish robust R&D processes, design controls, development methodologies and stage‑gate processes appropriate for a growing medical‑device organisation.
• Work closely with physicians, Key Opinion Leaders and clinical stakeholders to understand unmet needs and incorporate clinical feedback into product development.
• Support intellectual property strategy, including identification of opportunities for patents and protection of the company's technology platform.
• Establish and monitor R&D budgets, timelines, resources and development milestones, ensuring projects remain aligned with company objectives.

What We're Looking For:

• Senior R&D leadership experience ideally within vascular, neurovascular, peripheral vascular, endovascular, interventional or catheter-based technologies.
• Proven track record of taking medical-device concepts through product development, verification & validation, regulatory approval and commercialisation.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary R&D, engineering or product development teams within a growing organisation.
• Experience working closely with physicians, KOLs and clinical teams to translate clinical needs into new product concepts.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
