Role: VP of Project Finance

Industry: Renewable Energy (Utility-Scale Solar)

Location: California (Remote)

Salary: $225,000 - $300,000

This is a compelling opportunity for an experienced VP of Project Finance to lead the financing strategy and execution for a pioneering utility-scale solar company. The organization is accelerating the transition to clean energy by delivering bankable, large-scale solar infrastructure through innovative project structuring and smart capital deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of project finance for utility-scale solar developments, including debt structuring, tax equity, and sponsor equity transactions.
  • Collaborate with development, legal, engineering, and executive teams to structure and close complex project-level financings.
  • Manage investor and lender relationships, coordinate due diligence, and oversee transaction execution to financial close.
  • Evaluate financial models and risk profiles of project pipelines, ensuring alignment with investment and return targets.
  • Negotiate and execute term sheets, financing agreements, and partnership arrangements.
  • Monitor market trends, tax policies, and capital markets to optimize financing strategies.
  • Build and lead a high-performing project finance team, driving continuous improvement and knowledge development.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and lender requirements, reporting obligations, and financial covenants.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in project finance or structured finance, with a strong track record in renewable energy, particularly utility-scale solar.
  • Proven experience closing large-scale energy project financings involving tax equity, debt, and sponsor equity.
  • Deep understanding of financial modelling, tax equity structures (e.g., partnership flips), and risk allocation in infrastructure deals.
  • Strong relationships with capital providers, including banks, tax equity investors, and infrastructure funds.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field required; MBA or CFA is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable working remotely and occasionally traveling to meet with investors, partners, and internal teams.
