Job summary

Day & Zimmermann is seeking a Vice President, Preconstruction, Maintenance & Construction to lead company-wide preconstruction excellence from opportunity development through handoff and authorization. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field.
• At least 15 years of progressively responsible experience in construction, engineering, EPC, design-build, or construction management with significant preconstruction leadership responsibilities.
• Minimum of 7 years in senior leadership roles demonstrating accountability across multiple functions, geographic locations, business units, or complex project portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and lead a cohesive preconstruction strategy with governance, metrics, and continuous improvement.
• Manage comprehensive review protocols including estimating and front-end planning level reviews for accuracy and feasibility.
• Oversee integration of estimating practices with cost strategy frameworks ensuring alignment with scope maturity and design deliverables.
• Collaborate with Project Management, Construction Management, and related teams to ensure smooth preconstruction to execution handoffs.
• Lead governance of front-end planning including design integration and schedule development for an executable plan.
• Direct comprehensive pre-execution risk management across scope validation, procurement planning, market engagement, and compliance.
• Establish robust handoff processes with clear acceptance criteria and sign-off timelines.
• Champion recruitment, development, and retention of high-performing preconstruction teams with AI-enabled processes.
• Design scalable capability frameworks including career development, training, and succession planning.
