What you'll do:
Our Juris Banking team is seeking a Commercial Underwriter responsible for analyzing, structuring, underwriting, and coordinating the closing of new loan requests and renewals for various lending products to law firms and related businesses. The Underwriter will work with the Relationship Manager to manage loans, ensuring credit risks are responsibly monitored and identified. Key responsibilities include reviewing loan structures, financial spreads, entity structures, collateral, market data, and reports to understand inherent risks and prepare credit actions. The Underwriter must ensure compliance with all applicable banking regulations.
Work closely with the Relationship Manager to develop or maintain client relationships and ensure a timely credit process.
Interface with clients to assess their credit needs and determine analysis requirements.
Gather and analyze information to present financing requests for approval.
Coordinate processing of approved loans, ensuring compliance with policies and customer needs.
Provide excellent customer service and follow-through with customers and employees.
Handle underwriting, portfolio management, and related tasks for new and existing loans.
What you'll need:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
Minimum 7 years of commercial underwriting experience, with strong credit knowledge in Commercial & Industrial lending.
Advanced skills in financial statement and tax return analysis.
Strong portfolio management skills and excellent communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and handle multiple credit requests simultaneously.
Self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude and positive outlook.
Compensation varies by location, with salary ranges provided for San Diego, CA, and other locations. The role may be eligible for bonuses and stock options.
