To learn more, visit www.LAalliance.org.ROLE SUMMARYThe Vice President, Operations, provides executive-level leadership to develop and manage multiple functional areas and cross-functional teams to implement process improvements that ensure the effective delivery of Home Office operational services in support of Alliance schools and scholars. The Vice President serves as a key member of the Operations leadership team, shaping organizational strategy, leading cross-functional initiatives, and ensuring operational excellence across Alliance’s schools. The Vice President, Operations, reports directly to the top-level Operations Team leader and is expected to oversee the Network Operations Lead, Facilities, and Business Operations teams, with portfolio responsibilities that may evolve over time to meet organizational priorities and needs.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESProvide Data-Driven, Network-Wide Organizational LeadershipOwn the operational strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of Alliance's school support systems, ensuring schools receive effective, coordinated operational services that enable strong scholar outcomes.Guide the functional leads of the Operations Division under your purview to develop operational plans with clear and measurable goals aligning with the larger Operations Division Support strategy, initiatives, and network priorities.Lead and develop school-facing operational support teams to strengthen coaching, improve school performance, and ensure consistent implementation of network priorities.Drive initiatives to improve cross-functional coordination and communication with other Home Office departments.Hold functional teams accountable for achieving network operational performance goals through clear expectations, performance management, and continuous improvement.Develop organizational capacity by designing scalable systems, strengthening leadership pipelines, and reducing operational variability across schools.Other duties as assigned.Provide Team Management and LeadershipDevelop and coach direct reports, ensuring alignment of team and department objectives to overall organizational goals and supporting growth and learning opportunities.Oversee the Home Office Network Operations Lead Team as coaches of operations leadership and in support of school operational staff at 25 Alliance schools.Oversee the Facilities Team and the Business Operations Team to ensure strong outcomes in the key performance indicators for each function supported by these teams.Review team members’ work to provide ongoing, timely, relevant, and constructive feedback to Home Office Operations team, school operational teams, and key cross-departmental leaders.Partner with school leaders to build operational capacity through coaching, professional learning, performance management and responsive supportImplement a vision and framework for hiring, operations leadership professional development, staff development, and performance management and in alignment with the Alliance School Operations Leadership rubric to ensure strong operations leadership at every site.Manage the Network Operations Lead, Business Operations, and Facilities teams’ budgets.Foster a positive team culture rooted in teamwork and with a “One Alliance” mentality.Champion and model Alliance core values, support Alliance’s network priorities, and facilitate a customer-service-oriented environment and a positive, collaborative relationship between schools and the Home Office.Oversee Business OperationsProvide strategic leadership and oversight for Alliance’s business operations portfolio to drive strong outcomes for scholars through the Director, Business Operations.Lead the development and continuous improvement of Alliance's attendance strategy by partnering across Operations and Scholar, Family & Community teams to strengthen systems, build school capacity, and improve scholar attendance outcomes while reducing truancy and chronic absenteeism.Ensure the effective execution and continuous improvement of Alliance's nutrition program through strong regulatory compliance, fiscal stewardship, vendor management, operational performance, and cross-functional partnership that supports scholar access and program sustainability.Provide executive oversight of Alliance's school safety strategy by ensuring regulatory compliance, operational readiness, emergency preparedness, crisis response, and continuous improvement of network-wide safety systems.Provide strategic oversight of scholar health operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, effective systems, and coordinated supports that promote scholar health and uninterrupted access to learning.Ensure effective operational monitoring, compliance reporting, and internal review processes that strengthen accountability, mitigate organizational risk, and drive continuous improvement across operational functions.Oversee Facilities Maintenance & Repair TeamProvide strategic leadership and oversight for Alliance’s facilities portfolio to drive strong outcomes for scholars through the Director, Facilities.Ensure Alliance facilities remain safe, compliant, and operationally effective through strong regulatory oversight, risk management, and partnership with school leaders.Lead the development and continuous improvement of comprehensive facilities maintenance systems that maximize asset performance, reduce operational disruptions, and optimize long-term cost efficiency.Oversee Alliance's facilities vendor strategy, capital improvement projects, and strategic partnerships to ensure quality, fiscal stewardship, and timely execution of network priorities.Oversee Network Operations Lead Team and Drive School Operational Performance:Provide strategic leadership and oversight for Alliance's school-facing operations support model through the leadership of the Network Operations Lead team.Lead cross-functional collaboration among Network Operations Leads, Instructional Superintendents, school leaders, and Home Office teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality operational support across the network.Define and communicate clear expectations for operational excellence across all functions under your purview.Ensure schools receive effective coaching, professional learning, tools, and operational resources that strengthen implementation and improve key performance indicators.Identify systemic barriers to operational performance and leading cross-functional strategies that improve network-wide outcomes.Scale and institutionalize high-impact operational practices to reduce variability and strengthen execution across Alliance schools.THE IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVEDemonstrated success leading large-scale, cross-functional operational organizations or initiatives.Exceptional people leader with experience developing high-performing teams.Executive presence with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.Demonstrated systems thinking with the ability to translate data into strategy and execution.Proven track record for driving outcomes and managing complex change across a school system of a similar size to Alliance.Previously served as Assistant Principal of Operations at a K-12 school, or similar role, for at least two years.Strong project management skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to efficiently and simultaneously manage multiple projects, escalating issues as needed.Proven ability to navigate complex issues and ambiguity and achieve results, while managing up and managing laterally to drive outcomes.Experience in compliance, audits, risk assessment, or a related field.Knowledge of urban school environments and school culture.Ability to lead effectively in a multi-layered organization and build strong relationships with school leaders in a public school district, public administration, charter school/education management organization, university, or in a related field, including at least three (3) years of school leadership Home Office staff are allocated $500 per year for professional development expenses.WORK LOCATIONThis position is a hybrid role which will include a combination of working from home, our network office, and travel to school sites.
