Job description

Democracy Prep educates responsible citizen-scholars for success in college and active citizenship. In partnership with families, we empower young people with skills and values to become community leaders who will strengthen democracy and inspire change. The Vice President of Strategy, Marketing & Communications is a senior leader responsible for regional strategy, branding, and storytelling. Reporting to the COO, this role manages systems, collaborates with stakeholders, and supervises the Marketing & Communications team.

What You’ll Do

Network Leadership

  • Partner with the COO and executive team to ensure regional strategies and branding are effective.
  • Address complex regional issues with empathy and sound judgment.
  • Manage budgets responsibly and promote innovation.
  • Lead training and development for managers and leaders.
  • Participate in executive meetings and organizational initiatives.

Regional Strategy & Project Management

  • Co-lead regional strategies for Nevada, Texas, and New York, including strategic reviews, implementation, and project management.
  • Support relationship management with regional superintendents and directors.
  • Lead merger, acquisition, and growth initiatives in New York.

Marketing & Communications

  • Re-establish and lead the organization’s marketing & communication strategies.
  • Protect and promote the Democracy Prep brand across all channels.
  • Oversee external communications, media relations, and vendor relationships.
  • Manage the Marketing & Communications team, ensuring effectiveness and accountability.
  • Coordinate high-profile events and media opportunities.
  • Maintain the organization’s website and social media presence.
  • Prepare materials for leadership and crisis communication as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
  • Leadership experience in education or social sector organizations is highly desirable.

Compensation

Salary range: $150,000–$175,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, 403B matching, and parental leave.
