Vice President of Product Engineering
This role is open to fully remote work.
b.well is looking for a VP of Engineering to lead its development efforts in reshaping how people interact with their healthcare. Help reimagine how consumers find and receive healthcare!
b.well is transforming how healthcare consumers find and receive care in a personalized, convenient and affordable manner. Partnering with our customers (health systems, insurance payors, pharmacies and employers) we empower consumers to make informed choices about their family's health using our data platform and our mobile apps.
Currently the b.well technology is in the hands of over 150 million people. Every Samsung phone sold in the U.S. includes the b.well technology and every user of the Walgreens App has b.well technology in their hands.
A great candidate for this role is a strong people manager who is passionate about designing and scaling a successful engineering organization that is enhancing and scaling our internal and external products across desktop and mobile. The person in this role will be an integral part of the senior leadership team, partnering with others on that team to translate our company vision and strategy into engineering strategies that enable us to achieve our purpose at scale.
You will play a vital role in architecting solutions, taking projects from spec to concept, and leading your team to creating high-quality, creative, simple, and elegant solutions. You'll have technical ownership of software product portfolios and their respective engineering teams.

- Lead and transform b.well's engineering organization to reshape how people interact with healthcare
- Drive technical strategy and product development across desktop and mobile platforms
- Build and scale a high-performing engineering team that delivers innovative healthcare technology solutions

- Implement data-driven performance management and AI-powered productivity tools
- Develop comprehensive leadership and management training programs
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive product excellence
- Manage geographically distributed and offshore engineering teams
- Maintain a strategic approach to product architecture and technology infrastructure

- Consistently deliver high-velocity, high-quality software projects on time and within budget
- Reduce technical debt through robust, scalable architectural solutions

- Maintain high standards of cybersecurity and product reliability

Key Responsibilities:- Expand and uplevel engineering teams across multiple locations
- Implement comprehensive engineering metrics and performance evaluation processes
- Drive AI-powered engineering productivity
- Provide architectural leadership and prevent technical debt
- Develop leadership training for managing distributed teams
- Lead product design and implementation using Python, Node.js, React, and modern technologies
- Improve existing products, tools, and procedures
- Monitor and reduce cybersecurity risks
Job Requirements:- 10+ years of professional programming experience
- 7+ years of leading and scaling high-performing technology teams
- Strong experience with:
- Relational and NoSQL databases
- Cloud-based infrastructure
- REST-based APIs
- Development team management
- Design and product management collaboration
- Proven ability to implement and interpret engineering metrics
- Experience with AI development tools and workflows
- Thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments
Strongly Preferred:- Expertise in Python or Node.js
- Strong React or React Native skills
- iOS and Android development experience
- Docker proficiency
- Unit testing and test-driven development experience
- Start-up background
- HIPAA and HITECH compliance knowledge
The target salary range for this position is $150,000 - $275,000 and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options, benefits, and incentive pay for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
