The Role
We are looking for a Vice President of Product to direct the strategy for our Public-Sector facing integrated hardware and software ecosystems. You will oversee the development of complex, edge-deployed technology—including cameras, IoT devices, and software while integrating machine learning and AI capabilities into the core product suite. As a key executive, you will rely on data to guide the product organization and align the executive team and Board of Directors around a clear roadmap for growth. This role is a combination of being hands on with our evolving, active products, as well as managing and overseeing a team of Product Managers across a number of different product lines that are both active and emerging.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute a market-leading product vision and strategy for student and community safety across the public sector.
- Unify cameras, vision systems, IoT, robotics, software platforms, data products, and AI/ML into an integrated product portfolio.
- Own the full product lifecycle—from customer discovery and concept development through NPI, manufacturing, commercial deployment, support, enhancement, and end-of-life.
- Transform and scale the product organization by building the talent, structure, operating cadence, decision rights, and accountability required for predictable execution and high growth.
- Establish a data-driven product operating model using customer, market, operational, financial, and product analytics to prioritize investments, measure outcomes, manage product P&L, and improve decision certainty and precision.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Customer Success to define target segments, pricing, packaging, positioning, go-to-market strategy, and deployment models.
- Build alignment across hardware engineering, software engineering, AI/ML, supply chain, manufacturing, and commercial teams through clear priorities, transparent tradeoffs, conviction, persuasion, and a low-ego leadership style.
- Develop market and competitive intelligence to anticipate opportunities in edge computing, computer vision, IoT, robotics, and public-sector technology.
- Deliver evidence-based product recommendations, risks, investment cases, and portfolio updates to the executive team and Board of Directors.
You Are
- A transformational product executive who has built or rebuilt high-performing product organizations in complex, high-growth technology businesses.
- Commercially minded, with a strong understanding of public-sector markets, customer value, pricing, product P&L, and predictable growth.
- An expert in driving product vision for public sector product roadmaps
- A strategic operator who can turn a broad mission into a focused portfolio, clear roadmap, and measurable business outcomes.
- Experienced in taking integrated hardware and software products from concept through launch, scale, deployment, and lifecycle management.
- Highly analytical and data-driven, using evidence to prioritize investment while applying sound judgment when information is incomplete.
- Comfortable leading across hardware, software, AI/ML, manufacturing, supply chain, field operations, and commercial functions.
- A clear, persuasive executive communicator who can influence senior leaders and the Board of Directors.
- A low-ego, collaborative leader who creates alignment, makes difficult tradeoffs, and maintains a high bar for accountability.
- Fast-moving and outcome-oriented, balancing speed of innovation with reliability, precision, and operational rigor.
- Deeply motivated by improving student and community safety through technology.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of product leadership experience, with significant experience in public sector products and a track record of building complex technologies and managing teams.
- Proven experience in a VP seat.
- Domain expertise in hardware product development (e.g., cameras, IoT, robotics or similar technology domains) combined with the software and cloud platforms that power them.
- Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), taking hardware devices from R&D prototypes to mass production and global deployment.
- History of commercializing Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence technologies within integrated hardware and software ecosystems.
- Business and financial acumen, with experience managing product margins, pricing strategies, and revenue growth.
- Executive presence with the ability to lead with data, advocate for strategic direction, and influence board decisions while remaining grounded and collaborative.
