The Vice President of Planning, Design, and Construction is responsible for leading and overseeing all phases of real estate development and design at Presbyterian Senior Living. This includes visioning, planning, architectural design, construction, and project delivery for new developments, campus repositioning efforts, and capital improvement projects. The VP ensures that developments align with strategic priorities, reflect high-quality design standards, and are completed on time and within budget.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 5-10+ years of progressive leadership in real estate development, construction, or architecture, preferably in aging services or healthcare environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Real Estate Development, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Professional licensure or certification (e.g., RA, AIA, or PMP) is strongly preferred
  • Strong experience in leading large-scale capital projects, including oversight of design and construction professionals
  • Proven ability to manage capital budgets and deliver complex projects in regulated environments
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, presentation, and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, project management software, and finance/accounting software

Expectations:

  • Lead long-term facility and real estate planning that aligns with PSL’s strategic plan. Develop and uphold design guidelines reflecting PSL’s mission, values, and customer expectations.
  • Direct all phases of development and construction projects—from concept through completion. Develop budgets in collaboration with the VP of Finance - Affordable Housing and Development, and oversee design and construction professionals. Lead project management to ensure projects meet standards, timelines, and budgets.
  • Review and approve design concepts, architectural drawings, and construction documents to ensure they support resident-centered design, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead construction administration, cost control, quality assurance, and coordination with contractors and consultants. Ensure compliance with contract deliverables and safety standards.
  • Oversee the capital project budgeting process in partnership with Operations and Finance. Ensure budgets reflect accurate estimates and are proactively managed through each phase.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales/marketing, clinical teams, and leadership to ensure design solutions support organizational priorities.
  • Ensure projects comply with all local, state, and federal regulations and obtain necessary permits and approvals.
