GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and management for the operations and activities of Visit Oconee SC, Oconee County’s Destination Marketing Organization (DMO). Visit Oconee SC is a non-profit destination marketing organization for Oconee County SC. It’s mission is to promote sustainable visitation to all parts of the County by highlighting our spectacular natural assets and promoting our communities, local events, entertainment venues, museums, shops, restaurants and lodging. The VP of Operations reports to the President & CEO and is responsible for the leadership and management of daily operations to brand, market and sell Oconee County as a premier destination; to promote County tourism opportunities to the public, and to perform related professional, administrative and supervisory work, as required. This requires the development and management of the Visit Oconee SC website (www.VisitOconeeSC.com), daily social media posts focused on our destination offerings (waterfalls, hiking, lakes, river rafting, events, dining, etc.) and building relationships with our tourism industry partners to better position Oconee County for sustainable tourism. This highly visible position interfaces with key community, government, media and tourism leaders, serving as a key spokesperson for the organization. This position researches, formulates and implements long-range goals for the organization, develops policy and position papers, and negotiates, advises and communicates with President & CEO, chief administrative officers, a non-profit Board of Directors and/or elected officials.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Proven leadership and exceptional communication skills, including presentation skills.
Strong relationship-building skills and ability to clearly communicate mission and progress.
Considerable knowledge of tourism industry practices, and procedures.
Considerable knowledge of public relations, group marketing and sales.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to direct and supervise staff and volunteers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Travel and Tourism Administration, Marketing, or related field, and five (5) years of related work experience in leadership within the travel, tourism and/or marketing field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Prior hospitality/tourism, association, or economic development experience is .
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Required: Valid driver's license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Work is performed in a relatively safe, and secure office environment.
