Epirus is seeking a Vice President of Marketing and Communications to sit in Strategy and report to senior leadership. You will shape Epirus’ external messaging, build media relations, and drive a measurable marketing framework.

This role leads a small team and partners with executive leadership to articulate vision, positioning, and strategic communications across DoW media and industry audiences. You will direct external partners for branding and communications, lead trade shows and thought

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant marketing, communications, and/or public relations experience with externally facing messaging.
  • Experience building and controlling external narratives, media relations, and press strategy.

Job description

  • The Vice President of Marketing and Communications sits within Epirus’ Strategy function and reports into senior leadership, with high visibility across the executive team
  • They will partner directly with executive leadership to shape and externalize Epirus’ core strategic messaging, vision, and positioning, and will build and control the Company’s external narrative -including media relations, press strategy, and public-facing communications. They will develop and maintain relationships with Department of War (DoW) media personnel, and will propose a structured, measurable approach to marketing, with clear objectives, frameworks, and reporting against them
  • This role directs and briefs an internal design house to execute on brand and creative work; design sits as a separate function, so this is a strong external communicator/partner role rather than a hands-on production role. They will also lead trade shows, industry events, and thought-leadership opportunities - such as speaking engagements and editorials - for senior Company leaders, and will manage a small team consisting of an events lead and two additional reports
  • Partner directly with executive leadership to shape and externalize Epirus’ core strategic messaging, vision, and positioning

  • Stay abreast of and internally disseminate international, domestic, and industry-related news that could impact the Company
  • Track and report on important public news pertaining to competitors, partners, and clients
  • Perform other tasks and support other Company objectives, as required

Comfortable directing and briefing external or internal creative/design partners rather than producing creative work hands-onA strategic communicator who can break big ideas into clear, structured themes and messagesBachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related fieldExcellent oral and written communication skills, with a knack for simplifying complex topics and technologiesDemonstrated experience building and controlling an external narrative, including media relations and press strategyStrong sense of initiative and urgency, comfortable operating within moderate budget autonomyDesire to build senior relationships with military/defense stakeholders and grow into broader scope over timeAbility to propose and operate against structured, measurable marketing frameworks and reportingExperience developing relationships with government/defense media personnel preferredOrganized, detail-oriented, and able to work and deliver with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility10+ years of relevant marketing, communications, and/or public relations experience, with demonstrated success shaping and externalizing strategic messaging in partnership with executive leadershipPassion for Start-Up environments and a strong commitment to Epirus’ vision and role in the Defense IndustryTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
