Vice President of Finance

Who Are We:

Sceye is a high-growth technology company, building the next generation of instant communications, imaging and remote sensing infrastructure through stratospheric platforms. Our lighter-than-air high-altitude platform systems (LTA HAPS) are capable of maintaining position over an operational area in the stratosphere (altitudes of 18 – 21km). They can carry multiple telecommunications, imaging and remote sensing payloads, providing unique functionality, cost, environmental and societal advantages.

Our customers & partners include some of the largest global telecommunications companies, infrastructure operators, climate researchers, civil and defense agencies. At Sceye, we aim high, and we want you to join us at the stratospheric edge of innovation. As part of our mission-driven team, you’ll contribute to building breakthrough technologies that are changing the way we connect and observe the world. We are looking for individuals who bring not only deep expertise but also bold vision and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

About the Position:

The Vice President of Finance is a senior leader responsible for supporting Sceye’s financial strategy, planning, and overall financial performance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role provides leadership across financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, management reporting, financial operations, and long‑range planning.

The VP of Finance partners closely with the CFO, executive leadership, and functional leaders across the organization to provide financial insight, strengthen planning and reporting processes, and support informed business decision‑making.

This role requires a strong combination of strategic thinking and hands‑on financial leadership. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment and can translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights.

The Vice President of Finance also plays an important role in building scalable financial processes, improving visibility into business performance, and helping ensure the organization has the financial structure and discipline needed to support continued growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner closely with the CFO, CEO, and executive leadership team on financial strategy, planning, and business decision‑making.
  • Lead the company's annual budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range financial planning processes.
  • Develop and maintain financial models that support strategic initiatives, organizational growth, capital requirements, and investment decisions.
  • Provide timely and meaningful financial reporting, analysis, and insights to executive leadership.
  • Establish and monitor key financial and operational performance indicators.
  • Analyze financial performance against budget, forecast, and strategic objectives and clearly communicate significant trends and variances.
  • Partner with functional leaders to develop budgets, understand spending, manage resources, and improve financial accountability.
  • Support cash‑flow planning, liquidity management, capital planning, and scenario modeling.
  • Help develop financial materials and analysis for Board of Directors and investor discussions.
  • Support corporate financing, fundraising, due diligence, and other strategic transactions as needed.
  • Partner with Accounting to ensure strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and scalable financial processes.
  • Evaluate and improve financial systems, reporting tools, policies, and processes as the organization grows.
  • Develop financial frameworks to support pricing, contracts, programs, headcount planning, capital expenditures, and other significant business decisions.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and work collaboratively with leadership to develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Build, develop, and mentor a high‑performing finance organization.
  • Create a culture of financial discipline, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Perform other strategic finance responsibilities and special projects as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive finance experience, including significant leadership responsibility.
  • Experience leading FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and management reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering directly with executive leadership and influencing business decisions through financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, cash‑flow management, financial controls, and corporate finance.
  • Experience developing financial models and long‑range plans within a growing or rapidly changing organization.
  • Experience building or improving financial processes, systems, and reporting infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to move between detailed financial analysis and high‑level strategic thinking.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to financial and non‑financial audiences.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience developing teams and collaborating across functions.
  • Ability to successfully operate in a dynamic environment where priorities may evolve quickly.
  • High level of integrity, sound judgment, discretion, and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience within aerospace, aviation, defense, advanced manufacturing, technology, or another highly technical industry.
  • Experience within a startup, high‑growth, or privately held organization.
  • Experience supporting capital raises, investors, Boards of Directors, or other corporate financing activities.
  • Experience with government contracts, research and development environments, or complex project/program‑based financial planning.
  • CPA, CFA, MBA, or other relevant professional designation.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing ERP, FP&A, or financial reporting systems.
