Responsibilities

With the launch of Related Ross as an independent entity, the company is creating an opportunity for a Vice President of Corporate Communications to define and strengthen the company’s communications strategy and support and enhance its business growth. The VP will be responsible for supporting and promoting the reputation and visibility of Related Ross, ensuring a consistent brand narrative with key stakeholders. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Marketing, and working closely with the Founder and CEO, Stephen Ross, President, Ken Himmel and the senior leadership team, this person will be a trusted advisor to the company and will be essential in the future growth ofthe business. This role will sit within the headquarters in West Palm Beach, FL.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Strategic Media Planning and Execution and Media Relations:

  • Serve as the strategic communications advisor to senior leadership and the chief spokesperson for the company.
  • Working alongside business leaders, marketing, external partners and support agencies, oversee all external communications for the company, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission, vision and values.
  • Create a national communications campaign platform for Related Ross and its activities in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County reflecting the vision for the company and the growth of this strategic location.
  • Build and maintain relationships with top-tier reporters and editors across business and consumer press to ensure positive coverage and visibility.
  • Prepare and drive press plans for business verticals and associated properties such as office, residential retail and hotel as well as specialty businesses and initiatives.
  • Create media-worthy events and initiatives that result in favorable, high-profile national media stories.
  • Monitor and report on media coverage, monitor sentiment and manage media inquiries and interview requests.

Executive Visibility/Thought Leadership:

  • Develop a strategic executive visibility and thought leadership strategy.
  • Plan, author, and oversee content for various communications channels, including leadership presentations, speeches, press releases, videos, and other creative assets.
  • Position company executives as industry leaders by securing speaking engagements, media interviews, and authored articles and manage these projects through to completion including prepping and providing talking points for leadership.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities for executives to participate in high-profile events and forums.
  • Work with marketing to host and/or sponsor relevant events and conferences that help to tell the Related Ross story; position executives as speakers and panel participants.

Internal Communications and Community Engagement:

  • Collaborate on an internal communications strategy and help lead internal events and corporate philanthropic and CSR initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of transparency and engagement through effective internal communications strategies.
  • Develop and implement programs to engage employees and promote a positive corporate culture.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, customers, and community leaders.
  • Protect and enhance the firm’s reputation both externally and among employees.
  • Assist in community engagement and efforts of Related Together, Related Ross' not-for-profit focused on the underserved community in West Palm Beach

Public Affairs and Crisis Communications:

  • Manage, mitigate, and prepare for complex public affairs issues, including engaging with stakeholders such as local government agencies, media and the public with the goal of shaping perception and ensuring consistent communication.
  • Lead the development and execution of crisis communication plans to protect and enhance the company’s reputation.
  • Provide counsel to senior leadership during crises and ensure timely and effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Prepare and train spokespersons for crisis situations.

Corporate Reputation, Brand and Digital Content Management:

  • Lead content creation and manage content across owned and social digital channels dedicated to corporate reputation, including LinkedIn and X and key content sections of the Related Ross website.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the company’s online presence and reputation.
  • Collaborating with the marketing team, maintain an ownable and relevant brand strategy and social presence for Related Ross.
  • Manage Related Ross and key executive Wikipedia pages.
  • Monitor and respond to online feedback and reviews.
  • Ensure consistent and engaging messaging across platforms.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 15 years of communications experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, building or leading a communications function.

Skills:

  • Proven track record in developing and executing successful communications strategies, with the ability to think big picture, and willingness to get in the weeds and do the work
  • Experience working with a founder and C-Suites and an understanding of the priorities in a growing business
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to various audiences in relatable terms
  • Experience with thepolitical environment and with thepress covering politics and government issues
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies, digital marketing and social media, and content development strategies, with experience leveraging these platforms for public relations purposes
  • Extensive experience in media relations and issues management, including experience handling reputational crises quickly and professionally
