Managing Director at HeatherDaniel International

Vice President of Construction

Travel: Required, but not excessive (approx. 30–50%)

Salary: $230,000 – $265,000 Base + Bonus

HeatherDaniel International is working on behalf of a construction consultancy to identify a highly accomplished and commercially minded Vice President of Construction. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing major construction operations and expanding regional capability through strategic recruitment and developing new client relationships.

You will be joining a forward-thinking organisation during a key phase of growth, with the opportunity to shape delivery structures, drive performance, and scale the construction business in a sustainable and commercially effective manner.

The Role

The Vice President of Construction will take full ownership of regional construction delivery across several active markets in North America. You will lead high-performing teams, oversee complex greenfield developments, and be expected to support broader business growth objectives by hiring and developing talent and securing new workstreams from prospective clients.

The role can be based anywhere within the Eastern USA. Travel is required to visit project sites and regional teams but is not excessive, typically in the range of 30–50%, and will be structured to avoid unnecessary disruption.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage regional construction teams, including directors, campus managers, and project delivery staff.
  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of large-scale construction developments—from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
  • Drive commercial growth by identifying new client opportunities and developing sustainable work pipelines for the business.
  • Strategically hire, onboard, and retain senior team members, ensuring operational capability matches workload.
  • Collaborate across development, finance, and operations teams to enhance programme efficiency and cost control.
  • Maintain direct engagement with clients, ensuring satisfaction, repeat business, and long-term partnership opportunities.
  • Monitor contractor and vendor performance, ensuring contractual compliance and delivery standards are upheld.
  • Provide detailed reporting on programme performance, commercial risk, and resource deployment.
  • Embed continuous improvement processes and encourage knowledge transfer across teams and regions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 15–20 years' experience in construction leadership, including large-scale technically complex projects.
  • Proven background in CSA and MEP disciplines.
  • Demonstrable track record in recruiting and building construction teams, with an ability to generate new client business.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing large CAPEX budgets and controlling commercial risk.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed across the Eastern and Central United States (30–50% travel anticipated).
