JOB SUMMARY
The Vice President of Marketing Science leads a team responsible for leveraging big data and advanced analytics to inform business decisions within Spectrum’s Residential Sales & Marketing organization. Core responsibilities include executing analyses and mining large data sets, leveraging demographic, psychographic, and transactional data to identify patterns and drivers of customer behavior to support marketing campaigns across the full customer lifecycle. This high-visibility position reports to the Group Vice President of Marketing Insights and interacts heavily with leaders of Sales, Marketing, and Business Intelligence teams.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Spectrum’s Sales & Marketing organizations with custom targeting lists to grow the customer base and manage all aspects of the customer lifecycle.
- Oversee development, enhancement, and maintenance of propensity models predicting customer and prospect behaviors using advanced statistical methods, including machine learning algorithms.
- Execute analyses and mining of large data sets, utilizing demographic, psychographic, and transactional data to identify patterns, triggers, and drivers of customer behavior; distill insights into actionable recommendations for customer-facing teams.
- Synthesize large and complex data sets into manageable analytic data sets to facilitate structured analyses and insights development.
- Identify and validate new third-party and internal data sources for incorporation into Marketing Science and Marketing databases, including demographic, psychographic, macroeconomic, firmographic, and transactional data.
- Measure performance of marketing initiatives and campaigns.
- Leverage statistical methods to develop custom segmentation schemas supporting marketing initiatives.
- Manage the roadmap for reporting and key operating metrics (KOMs) within Spectrum’s Business Intelligence platform; establish reporting structures for new services and processes; act as liaison between Analytics, Sales & Marketing teams, and BI organization.
- Manage and develop a team of skilled professionals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Extensive knowledge of marketing principles, CRM techniques, and experience with Direct Marketing, Marketing Databases, and Research functions.
- Hands-on experience with statistical and quantitative methods, propensity modeling, and segmentation schema development.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Proven leadership in attracting, developing, and managing staff.
- Ability to manage large, complex projects.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with limited oversight.
- Software skills: SQL, SAS, SPSS, R, Python; proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word); Think Cell and Tableau preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college in Marketing, Management, Finance, Business Analytics, Statistics, or Economics.
Work Experience
At least 15+ years of Marketing Science/Analytics experience at a large organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced analytics and data science skills with the ability to communicate insights verbally and in written presentations.
- MBA or Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, or Business Analytics preferred.
- Additional 15+ years of relevant experience at large organizations is a plus.

Office environment with occasional travel.
