We are conducting a confidential executive search for an accomplished Vice President, Research to lead research strategy, strengthen methodological capabilities, and help shape the next generation of research solutions within a rapidly evolving insights organization.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior research leader who combines deep quantitative research expertise, advanced survey methodology, commercial instinct, client advisory capability and a passion for innovation.
The VP of Research will serve as a senior authority on research methodology while acting as a strategic advisor to clients, commercial teams, product leaders and executive stakeholders.
You will help ensure research programs meet the highest standards of rigor, quality, reliability and business relevance, while helping define how emerging technologies can transform the future of research.
This is not a traditional research leadership role.

Research Strategy & Methodological Leadership
- Establish and advance research and methodological best practices
- Act as the senior authority on quantitative research and survey methodology
- Advise clients and internal teams on complex research design
- Lead thinking around questionnaire design, sampling, experimental design, tracking research, segmentation and concept/product testing
- Develop frameworks that improve research reliability, validity and actionability
- Build a Research Center of Excellence providing expertise, standards, training and consultation
Client Advisory & Commercial Impact
- Act as a senior research advisor to strategic clients and prospects
- Support complex, high-value research engagements and major pitches
- Partner with Sales and Client Development teams on solution design and executive conversations
- Translate sophisticated research methodologies into practical business recommendations
- Identify opportunities to expand relationships through new methodologies, trackers, advisory services and research programs
Data Quality & Research Integrity
- Partner with Quality, Supply, Product and Technology teams
- Advance approaches to respondent and research quality
- Develop frameworks around respondent authenticity, engagement and representativeness
- Lead research-on-research initiatives examining sampling, respondent behaviour, fraud and data quality
- Translate research findings into improvements across products and processes
- Evaluate emerging research technologies and methodologies
- Help shape approaches to AI-enabled research, synthetic data, synthetic audiences, digital twins and conversational research
- Identify where AI can genuinely improve research while maintaining methodological discipline
- Translate research expertise into scalable products, frameworks, tools and intellectual property
Thought Leadership
- Represent the organization as a visible research leader
- Develop white papers, POVs, webinars and original research
- Present at conferences and industry events
- Build relationships with leading researchers, academics and senior client-side insights professionals
- Contribute to the broader advancement of the research industry
We are particularly interested in candidates with:
- 12+ years of experience in market research, survey research, insights, research consulting or a related field
- Deep expertise in quantitative research and survey methodology
- Demonstrated experience advising sophisticated corporate research and insights organizations
- Strong knowledge of:
- Tracking research
- Strong understanding of online data collection and respondent/data quality
- Experience building Research Centers of Excellence, consulting practices, research capabilities or methodological frameworks
- Strong executive presence and exceptional communication skills
- Proven ability to develop trusted relationships with senior clients and stakeholders
- Genuine curiosity around AI and the future of research, combined with the ability to distinguish meaningful innovation from hype
- Experience publishing, speaking, teaching or contributing to the research community is highly desirable
- Advanced degrees in survey methodology, statistics, behavioral science, psychology, economics, marketing science, political science, sociology or related quantitative disciplines are strongly preferred.
- A PhD is a plus, but not required.
