Oracle is seeking a senior leader to head a large, regionally dispersed Platform Software Engineering group in the United States. The role focuses on 1–3 year strategy and execution for shared platform services, runtimes, and integration frameworks, delivering scalable, secure, multi-tenant capabilities and excellent developer experience.

Responsibilities

• Translate platform strategy into a 1–3 year portfolio and operating plan; set targets and govern milestone delivery for core services, runtimes, SDKs, and client libraries.
• Set and enforce group standards for platform architecture, API/SDK design and versioning, compatibility and deprecation policies, and resilience patterns; audit adoption and deviations.
• Govern continuous delivery and safe change for platforms: approve automation strategies, tests, error budgets, and rollback criteria to improve reliability and DORA metrics.
• Establish operability requirements for platforms (SLO/SLI, telemetry, dashboards, incident processes); drive post-incident learning for improvements.
• Lead program-level design and release reviews focused on interoperability, performance, security, and cost; approve exceptions with compensating controls.
• Direct platform adoption and consumer success through reference implementations, migration guides, and adoption playbooks; measure satisfaction and upgrade velocity.
• Ensure security, privacy, and regulatory obligations are embedded; maintain audit-ready documentation and evidence.
• Lead cross-functional operating rhythms with Product, Design, SRE/Security, and engineering teams to protect release predictability and ecosystem health.
• Standardize documentation and knowledge systems; ensure traceability from requirements to release and operational outcomes.
• Manage budget, headcount, and vendors; set KPIs and mentor Directors/Sr Directors; foster a high-performance culture.

• Set and enforce group standards for platform architecture, API/SDK design and versioning, compatibility and deprecation policies, and resilience patterns; audit adoption and correct deviations to maintain quality and compliance.
• Govern continuous delivery and safe change for platforms: approve automation and validation strategies (contract testing, canary/blue‑green, chaos/resilience tests), error budget policies, and rollback criteria to improve reliability and DORA metrics.
• Establish operability requirements for platforms (SLO/SLI targets, telemetry/observability, dashboarding, incident/problem/change processes); require post-incident learnings to drive systematic improvements and reduce recurrence.
• Chair program-level design and release reviews focused on interoperability, performance, and compliance; adjudicate trade-offs across scalability, reliability, security, and cost; approve exceptions with compensating controls and time-boxed remediation.
• Direct platform adoption and consumer success: publish reference implementations, migration guides, and adoption playbooks; measure consumer satisfaction, breakage rates, and upgrade velocity.
• Ensure security, privacy, and regulatory obligations are embedded (policy-as-code, SBOM/dependency governance, secrets/identity, least privilege); maintain audit-ready documentation and evidence.
• Lead cross-functional operating rhythms with Product, Design, SRE/Security, and peer engineering teams to align priorities, clear dependencies, and protect release predictability and ecosystem health.
• Standardize documentation and knowledge systems (ADR records, platform guides, API references); ensure traceability from requirements to release and operational outcomes.
• Manage budget, headcount, and vendors; set KPIs and drive continuous improvement, mentor Directors/Sr Directors; foster an inclusive, safety-first, high-performance culture.
• Ensures own large group operates in best interests of Oracle and our customers.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $212,900 - $480,700 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
