Job summary

Teva Pharmaceuticals is seeking a senior leader to guide global R&D programs from preclinical through regulatory approval and lifecycle management. This role drives enterprise strategy, coordinates cross-functional teams, and interfaces with health authorities, advisory boards, and partners to maximize asset value.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in pharma/biotech R&D, deep regulatory and commercial understanding, and a track record leading multi-disciplinary teams without direct authority.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years in pharma/biotech R&D with leadership across early and late development.
  • Proven track record delivering programs through IND → Ph3 → regulatory approval.
  • Experience managing complex external partnerships and joint governance structures.
  • Deep scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial understanding across the development spectrum.
  • PhD/MD/PharmD preferred; experience with marketed products and neuroscience or immunology is a plus.

The Opportunity

The Vice President, Global Program Head (GPH) is an enterprise-level executive responsible for the end-to-end strategy, leadership, and delivery of the full portfolio within an assigned disease area, spanning multiple global programs from early development through regulatory approval and lifecycle management. The GPH serves as the strategic owner of the disease-area portfolio and its assigned assets, driving a forward-looking, transformative vision grounded in scientific excellence, commercial insight, and patient impact. This role integrates scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial strategy to shape a differentiated portfolio, maximize asset value, and ensure successful progression throughout the product life cycle. The GPH leads multiple complex matrix global program teams (GPTs), anticipates future therapeutic, regulatory, and technological shifts, shapes stakeholder expectations, and ensures alignment across the full research–development–commercial spectrum.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Enterprise Vision
  • Set a bold, transformational asset vision anticipating future scientific, technological (e.g., AI, precision medicine), and market trends to increase program competitiveness.
  • Embraces accountability for strategic direction, value creation, integrated development planning, and long-term lifecycle management of the asset.
  • Synthesizes complex internal and external insights, including the external competitive landscape, to inform enterprise-level decisions and scenario planning, ensuring a future-ready strategy despite an ambiguous or evolving environment.
  • Upholds an enterprise mindset that prioritizes cross-functional alignment, shared purpose, and value delivery across R&D and commercial interfaces.
End-to-End Program Ownership & Delivery
  • Owns full program lifecycle from preclinical stages through global approval and beyond, ensuring scientific rigor, regulatory readiness, and commercial differentiation.
  • Leads the Global Program Team (GPT) through major program governance interactions, including the Innovative Development Committee; and helps represent the asset internally and externally, including global health authorities, advisory boards, and corporate partners.
  • Develops a strong working relationship with all team members and functional area stakeholders. Cultivates a high functioning partnership with the GPTD and with commercial co‑leader (late phase development programs).
Stakeholder Leadership & External Engagement
  • Shapes and aligns stakeholder expectations through transparent, evidence-based communication and inclusive decision‑making.
  • Builds and sustains trusted relationships with senior leaders, peers, team members, partners, external experts, and joint governance structures.
  • Navigates complex scientific, clinical, and organizational dynamics with diplomacy, influence, and exceptional communication tailored to diverse audiences.
Global Program Team Leadership & Talent Development
  • Leads and inspires multidisciplinary global program teams, driving high performance, accountability, and shared ownership of outcomes.
  • Fosters a “project first” approach within the GPT. Works closely with project team members, inspiring a “can‑do” approach. Fosters an environment of risk‑taking and bold ideas.
  • Partners with GPTD to ensure bold development plans with well‑defined risk‑balance and risk mitigations. Strategies account for project interdependencies, operational readiness, and budgetary prudence.
Your Skills And Experience
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology R&D with demonstrated leadership across early and late development.
  • Proven track record leading global, cross‑functional teams without direct authority and delivering programs through major regulatory milestones (IND → Ph3 → approval).
  • Experience managing complex external partnerships, joint governance structures, and high‑stakes program communication.
  • Demonstrates deep scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial understanding across the development spectrum.
  • Experience with lifecycle management and global submissions (NDA/BLA/MAA) is preferred.
  • Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) preferred.
  • Experience with marketed products is preferred.
  • Experience in Neuroscience and/or Immunology is preferred.
