Job description

The Role:

Morningstar DBRS is seeking an experienced Vice President to join the Insurance & Pensions Team in our New York City office. The individual will have lead and backup analyst responsibilities on a portfolio of global life and P&C (re)insurance companies, Canadian public pension funds, and asset managers. We are looking for highly motivated candidates who are self-starters, eager to learn, and have a strong work ethic.

This role is based in New York City. We operate in a hybrid environment, with in-office presence 3 days per week.

Job responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of global (re)insurance companies and Canadian pension funds and asset managers, acting as a lead analyst.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis, surveillance, participate in rating committees, and meet with C-level executives of issuers.
  • Create high-quality, timely research and stay updated on industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree, actuarial, CFA, or accounting designations are advantageous.
  • At least seven years of experience in credit analysis within financial institutions or related fields.
  • Excellent communication and business writing skills.
  • Strong financial statement analysis and spreadsheet skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accounting issues.
  • Detail-oriented with solid research and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated team player with a sense of urgency, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and investors.

Base salary range: $110,000 - $205,000 USD annually.

Bonus target: 30% of annual salary.
