Vice President, Full Stack Java Engineer (Microservices & FinTech)
We are looking for a seasoned full‑stack Java engineer to join our Collateral One team in the Liquidity and Financing platform, based in Pittsburgh, PA. The role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable microservices and UI components with an emphasis on AI‑driven development.
Responsibilities
- Leverage AI tools (e.g., WindSurf, Cursor) to accelerate development of microservices and APIs using Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.5+.
- Design, implement, test, deploy, and support end‑to‑end features across backend and frontend (Angular) as needed.
- Build RESTful microservices and messaging integrations, including Kafka and IBM MQ.
- Develop JPA/Hibernate data layers and work with Oracle databases (schema design, indexing, stored procedures).
- Implement Spring Security, enforce secure coding practices, and support RBAC and method‑level security.
- Provide observability with structured logging, metrics, dashboards, Splunk, Micrometer, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines with quality gates, vulnerability scanning, and artifact promotion.
- Containerize services, deploy to cloud environments, and monitor performance, reliability, and cost.
- Write unit, integration, and UI tests using JUnit/Mockito, Jasmine/Karma, and modern UI testing frameworks; maintain strong automated coverage.
- Build Angular UI components with responsive, secure, accessible design; use state management tools such as NgRx or similar.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience, preferred in the finance industry.
- Expertise in Java 17, Spring Boot (web, data/JPA, security), Spring Security, and Oracle SQL.
- Experience integrating AI tools into development workflows.
- Proficiency with Maven/Gradle, Git/GitLab, CI/CD pipeline creation, artifact management, and SonarQube.
- Strong knowledge of front‑end frameworks (Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, NgRx) and front‑end observability, security, and accessibility.
- Solid testing skills: unit, integration, and UI testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine, Karma, Cypress).
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud‑based service deployment.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Microservices architectural patterns: service boundaries, API versioning, fault tolerance, resiliency.
- Advanced knowledge of Kafka (topics, partitions, consumer groups, semantics) and IBM MQ.
- In‑depth understanding of Spring Security, OWASP Top 10, TLS, secrets management.
- Experience with AG Grid, AG Charts, Highcharts, and integration with Angular services.
- Proficiency in semantic HTML5, SCSS/CSS Flexbox, responsive layouts.
- Node.js/npm build optimization, Angular CLI budgets, OnPush change detection, bundle analysis, and WCAG compliance.
- Observability with Micrometer metrics, Prometheus, Grafana dashboards/alerts, Splunk, and production troubleshooting.
