The University is seeking a full-time, 12-month Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer. The CFO will be a key member of the president’s cabinet, responsible for financial strategy, operations, and compliance to support the university’s mission and goals.

The position reports to the Executive Vice President and is available immediately upon appointment of a successful candidate. Responsibilities as Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer:

  1. Supervise budget planning, preparation, implementation, and management.
  2. Design and administer financial record-keeping software and operations, and oversee internal controls.
  3. Prepare and distribute financial and statistical reports analyzing financial performance.
  4. Report financial outlooks for current and future years to the President, Leadership Team, BOT, and other stakeholders.
  5. Serve as primary resource to the BOT Finance Committee, preparing agendas and reports.
  6. Ensure compliance with IRS, FASB, and other authorities.
  7. Develop and oversee financial policies.
  8. Maintain good relations with auditors.
  9. Oversee endowment and cash management.
  10. Manage debt portfolio, including project approvals.
  11. Protect university assets and oversee facilities and equipment maintenance and refurbishment.
  12. Ensure expenditures are within budget, personally signing purchase orders above certain thresholds.
  13. Review and approve contracts and leases, consulting legal counsel as needed.
  14. Secure appropriate insurance coverage.
  15. Represent the university in relevant national organizations.

Candidate Expectations:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
  2. Master’s degree (MBA, MPA, or similar) preferred.
  3. CPA, CFA, or CMA certification highly desirable.
  4. 7-10+ years of senior financial leadership experience, preferably in higher education.
  5. Alignment with Evangelical Christian faith, experience, and mission.
