Job summary

American Council of Engineering Companies is seeking a highly organized Vice President, Finance to manage daily financial operations and govern budgeting, reporting, audits, and tax processes. You will lead a small finance team and work closely with the CFO to strengthen internal controls and drive process improvements.

The role is ideal for a hands-on leader who balances ownership of routine finance with strategic coordination for the executive team, board, and committees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent; CPA a plus.
• 10–15 years of progressively responsible accounting/finance experience, preferably in nonprofit or association.
• Proficiency with Sage Intacct or similar cloud-based ERP software.
• Experience with Concur or similar expense management systems.
• Familiarity with NetForum or similar AMS platforms is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting, finance, budget, and auditing concepts.
• Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day financial operations in coordination with the CFO.
• Prepare budgets and monthly financial statements for senior leadership and Treasurer.
• Oversee monthly close and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
• Supervise and develop finance staff (Director of Finance and Accounting Manager).
• Oversee processing of corporate card transactions; ensure PCI compliance.
• Generate invoicing reports from AMS (NetForum) for reporting and reconciliation.
• Maintain and administer Sage Intacct; coordinate with outside tech support.
• Assist with Three-Year Budget and quarterly Treasurer's/Investment reports.
• Maintain internal controls over cash management and disbursements; manage cash flow.
• Administer ACEC investment policy with outside advisors; coordinate with CFO.
• Serve as primary contact with outside auditors; draft GAAP financial statements and coordinate annual audits.
• Draft tax returns (Forms 990/990-T, D-20) and file 1099/1096; prepare Use Tax filings.
• Maintain business licenses and biennial reports; support staff accounting inquiries.
• Assist with non-financial activities when necessary.
