ADP is hiring a VP, Engineering Effectiveness & Workforce Transformation

The VP, Engineering Effectiveness & Workforce Transformation will lead the evolution of software development across ADP's Global Product & Technology (GPT) organization, supporting all of our associates across the world.

The position sits at the intersection of technology transformation, workforce strategy, engineering effectiveness, AI adoption, and organizational change.

This role is accountable for defining and driving the enterprise strategy that enables GPT's transition from a traditional Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to an AI-enabled Development Lifecycle (ADLC). A successful candidate will drive tooling selection, establish and socialize best practices, drive token optimization, measure and improve developer productivity and satisfaction.

Partnering with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, HR, Finance, Procurement, and Business Unit Technology organizations, this leader will establish the strategy, governance, operating model, and adoption framework required to accelerate modernization of software development at scale.

Success will be measured through enterprise adoption, workforce readiness, developer experience improvements, engineering productivity gains, faster delivery, and sustainable business value realization.

Key Responsibilities
AI-Enabled Development Lifecycle (ADLC)
  • Define and lead the enterprise transition from SDLC to an AI-enabled Development Lifecycle.
  • Establish governance, standards, and operating principles for applying AI across planning, design, coding, testing, security, deployment, and support.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Security, Architecture, and Infrastructure leaders to embed modern engineering practices into day-to-day delivery.
  • Ensure productivity improvements are balanced with quality, security, compliance, resilience, and responsible AI principles.
  • Continuously evolve lifecycle standards and practices as technologies and business requirements mature.
Workforce Transformation & Future Skills
  • Define the workforce strategy required to support AI-enabled software development.
  • Assess future capabilities, changing role requirements, and workforce implications across the global technology organization.
  • Partner with HR and technology leadership to align workforce planning, talent strategies, and capability development with transformation priorities.
  • Drive enterprise initiatives focused on workforce readiness, reskilling, organizational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
Developer Productivity & Engineering Effectiveness
  • Establish the enterprise agenda for developer productivity and engineering effectiveness.
  • Define measures related to developer experience, software delivery performance, productivity, quality, and operational outcomes.
  • Remove organizational and technical barriers affecting engineering efficiency.
  • Drive improvements that simplify software delivery and enhance the developer experience globally.
Developer Tooling & Technology Enablement
  • Own the strategic direction of the enterprise developer tooling ecosystem, including AI-enabled engineering capabilities.
  • Create structured processes for evaluating, piloting, selecting, and scaling emerging technologies.
  • Rationalize tooling and establish standards that improve consistency across the development organization.
  • Ensure investments generate measurable value and support enterprise-wide adoption.
Enterprise Adoption & Change Leadership
  • Lead adoption and change enablement across a large and globally distributed technology workforce.
  • Establish repeatable frameworks for deployment, communications, training, support, and adoption measurement.
  • Partner with Learning, HR, Communications, and Engineering leaders to accelerate workforce adoption.
  • Build communities of practice and champion networks that sustain change at scale.
  • Leverage developer feedback and data-driven insights to continuously improve adoption outcomes.
Value Realization & Executive Governance
  • Establish measurement frameworks for adoption, utilization, productivity, quality, workforce readiness, and business value.
  • Provide executive transparency regarding progress, investments, risks, and transformation outcomes.
  • Use quantitative insights to guide prioritization and investment decisions.
  • Lead governance processes that ensure long-term realization of transformation benefits.
Executive Leadership & Enterprise Partnership
  • Develop and communicate the future vision for software development across GPT.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to GPT executive leadership on workforce transformation, AI-enabled engineering, and developer productivity.
  • Influence decisions that shape technology operating models, workforce investments, organizational capabilities, and long-term technology strategy.
  • Lead highly visible initiatives requiring alignment across multiple executive stakeholders, functions, business units, and geographies.

Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of leadership experience in software engineering, technology transformation, workforce transformation, developer enablement, or related disciplines.
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale transformation across large global technology organizations.
  • Demonstrated success influencing executive stakeholders within highly matrixed environments.
  • Deep understanding of modern software engineering practices, DevSecOps, AI-assisted development, productivity measurement, and organizational transformation.
  • Enterprise & Strategic Thinking: Anticipates future business and technology needs and translates them into actionable strategies.
  • Executive Influence: Builds alignment and drives decisions across senior leadership and complex stakeholder groups.
