Job description

The Vice President, Design plays a critical role in shaping the direction of the company. This leadership position requires someone who has a strong combination of creative vision coupled with operational excellence and business acumen to build consumer and brand right product successfully in a competitive marketplace. Key responsibilities include overseeing and mentoring a creative team, bringing to life innovative and consumer-right collections across multiple different brands, building meaningful cross functional partnerships, refining design workflow and processes, and ensuring design standards are held to the highest standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop consumer- right product: Develop category strategies and seasonal design direction from trend forecasting through storytelling to execution, maximizing sales growth while re-enforcing brand vision.
  • Innovate: Shop competitively and anticipate market trends to identify first in market innovation, growth opportunities and white space
  • Story tell: Present product details to executives, brand partners, and major retail accounts in a way that brings the collection to life for the end consumer and amplifies the attributes, benefits, and commercial potential of the line
  • Enhance Speed: Co-develop and adhere to a multi-faceted go to market calendar, finding the most efficient way to work across multiple market timelines and implement speed models for fast chase
  • Work as a team: Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, sales, merchandising, supply chain, and production teams to align designs with market expectations and ensure seamless execution
  • Maintain quality: Maintain high standards of quality, aesthetics, and craftsmanship that uphold the company's reputation.
  • Drive sustainability: Champion sustainability and ethical practices by exploring eco-friendly materials, technologies, and processes.
  • Lead: Lead and mentor a high-performing, multi-disciplinary design team, fostering a culture of creativity, agility, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage: Oversee design department budgets, workflow, and resource allocation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years of product design and development experience with a strong record of cross-functional team leadership
  • Bachelor's degree in Design or related field
  • A natural coach and mentor; energizes and empowers others to do their best work
  • Ability to translate business objectives into a cohesive design strategy
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills to effectively present strategies and ideas to leadership and cross-functional teams
  • A great eye for color; understands the possibilities of fabric and construction; looks for new and innovative ways to use color, fabric, and details in design
  • Strong conceptual thinker with an eye for detail, brand nuance, and storytelling through product
  • Preferred knowledge/experience with AI design tools
  • Flexible to be on-site at least 3 days a week.

Annual salary range is starting at $250,000+
