The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a VicePresident, Academic Services for Chabot College in Hayward,California.
The Vice-President of Academic Services is a management positiondesignated by the Board of Trustees for the Chabot-Las PositasCommunity College District. The incumbent is responsible for the satisfactory completion and/or coordination of the listed duties and responsibilities either directly or through administrativereview. The incumbent is charged by the Board of Trustees with the satisfactory implementation of Board policy and District procedureas applicable to the position. In addition, the incumbent isexpected to participate in the formulation of District policies bymaking appropriate recommendations for improvements or additions inpolicy or procedure through his or her reporting authority and/orby serving on District-wide councils.
The Vice-President of Academic Services is the Chief InstructionalOfficer and is responsible for the overall design, organization,delivery, supervision, evaluation, and fiscal management of a comprehensive instructional program, including general education,transfer programs, technical and occupational programs, communityand continuing education, non-credit education, contract educationand athletics. The Vice-President of Academic Services may beassigned additional responsibilities in such areas as Library,Instructional Media Center, Television Studio, Tutorial Services,HUB, Instructional Technology, and Distance Education Center. Thisposition reports directly to the College President and workscollaboratively with the Vice-President of Student Services andVice-President of Business Services.
The Vice-President of Academic Services shall be appointed by theGoverning Board upon the recommendation of the College Presidentand the District Chancellor.
The Vice President of Academic Servicesshall:

Education: Master's degree required; earneddoctorate preferred.
Experience: Significant full-time teaching andadministrative experience in post-secondary education, preferablyin a community college; or an equivalent combination of educationand experience which indicates possession of the knowledge andskills required.
Demonstrate sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverseacademic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds ofcommunity college students, including those with physical and/orlearning disabilities.
Performance of the duties of this job may include the followingphysical activities: standing, walking, stooping, reaching andmanipulating (lifting, carrying, moving) light to medium weights of10-30 pounds, sitting for prolonged periods of time; visual acuityfor reading numerical figures; good hand-eye coordination; arm,hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp; and visualacuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read applicationinformation. Performance of the duties of this job frequentlyinvolves sitting, reaching with hands and arms, talking, andhearing. This position also involves travel to variouslocations.
