Moffitt Cancer Center, the top-ranked NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Southeastern United States, is seeking a faculty member in the tenure-earning rank of Associate/Senior Member (Associate/Full Professor equivalent) to be the Vice Chair for the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics and the Associate Scientific Director for the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Shared Resource (BBSR).
Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in biostatistics, statistics, bioinformatics, informatics, biomedical informatics, computer science, or a related field, along with relevant cancer research training and experience.
The growing Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics and the corresponding Shared Resource currently has 17 faculty and approximately 26 BBSR staff members engaged in a wide range of research and collaborations across clinical, translational, population, and biological studies in cancer prevention, detection, treatment, prognosis, and survivorship. Projects involve expertise in therapeutic and drug discovery, biomarker development, chemoprevention, microbiome, genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, sequencing, spatial biology, molecular epidemiology, behavioral interventions, clinical trial design, and precision medicine. Many projects leverage Moffitt’s Total Cancer Care initiative, providing access to extensive clinical and molecular data.
The Department is the largest at Moffitt and part of the Division of Quantitative Sciences within the Moffitt Research Institute, alongside Machine Learning and Integrated Mathematical Oncology departments. The environment is focused on cancer-specific quantitative research, supported by investments in analytics platforms, high-performance computing, and comprehensive data resources.
Academic rank beyond Associate Member will be commensurate with experience. The position is tenure-earning, requiring a minimum of five years of experience at the Assistant/Associate Professor level for appointment at the Associate/Senior Member level.
