Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Vice Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology to lead anesthesia services across CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital in San Antonio. The role combines strategic leadership with active clinical practice and represents the department to hospital leadership and the community.

The Chair will establish standards, drive quality outcomes, and guide education and growth of the anesthesia programs, including pediatric, obstetric, and cardiac anesthesia, as well as

Qualifications

• MD or DO required and board-certified in Anesthesiology.
• Fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology or related subspecialty.
• Unrestricted Texas medical license or eligible license.
• Minimum of 10 years of clinical anesthesiology experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive physician leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior physician leader for anesthesia services across CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital in San Antonio.
• Set strategic vision, clinical excellence standards, and operational performance for the department.
• Oversee education, quality outcomes, growth, and physician engagement within the Department of Anesthesiology.
• Maintain active clinical practice while representing anesthesia services to hospital leadership, medical staff, and the community.
• Direct oversight of Division Chiefs for Pediatric Anesthesiology, Pediatric CV Anesthesiology, and Obstetric Anesthesiology.
