Job summary

IAVI is seeking a Veterinary Technician in Brooklyn, NY to handle research animals, including rodents, rabbits, and non-human primates, and perform procedures such as anesthesia administration, blood and tissue collection, and health observations. The role requires maintaining medical records and working under BSL-2+ conditions per biosafety standards.

Candidates should hold an AVMA-accredited Vet Tech credential (LVT preferred) and 0–2 years of animal care experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or associate degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA-accredited program, plus experience in animal care.
• New York State Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) license or license eligible.

Responsibilities

• Conduct animal research activities, including vaccinations, specimen collection, anesthesia monitoring, and medical record maintenance.
• Prepare for animal studies: supply preparation, dosing materials, animal ordering, and formulation support for vaccine candidates and live virus.
• Work under BSL-2+ containment when handling vaccines and infectious materials, following biosafety procedures.
