Job description

Veterinary Technician, Urgent Care | $20 - $34/hour | Four 10‑hour shifts | Williston, VT

Schedule:

  • Four 10‑hour shifts per week
  • Start times are either 8 a.m. or 9 a.m.
  • One weekend shift per week (either Saturday or Sunday)
  • Includes 2–3 holidays per year

Compensation:

  • Starting at $20 per hour, potentially up to $34 per hour for an experienced Level III technician.

Responsibilities:

  • Triage and conduct initial patient assessments, including medical history and vital signs, and communicate findings to the veterinarian.
  • Develop comprehensive treatment plans in collaboration with the veterinarian and review them with clients to ensure understanding.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures and sample collections: ear swabs, cytology, venipuncture, IVC placement, cystocentesis, urinary catheterization, in‑house laboratory analyses, radiography (submitting for consults).
  • Provide skilled patient handling and restraint during examinations and monitor patients during sedated procedures (wound management, laceration care, porcupine quill removal, urinary obstructions).
  • Offer compassionate support to clients throughout the euthanasia process, guiding them through paperwork and after‑care options.
  • Administer outpatient treatments, including subcutaneous fluid administration and medication delivery, and review medications and discharge instructions with clients.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the hospital, including kennel cleaning, laundry management, and upkeep of treatment areas and equipment.
