BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a Surgery Technician to join our Surgery Team in Michigan. The role involves nursing care for stable patients, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and close collaboration with the veterinary team.

Preferred candidates have at least two years in a veterinary hospital, with the ability to work independently within a team and manage post-operative client communication as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in a veterinary hospital
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team
• Able to monitor patient response to therapies and alert doctor when abnormal

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards
• Place peripheral IV catheter in cephalic vein
• Perform physical exams and monitor vitals (heart rate, pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temp, respiration)
• Set up and disconnect intravenous fluids aseptically
• Administer subcutaneous fluids and operate IV fluid pumps
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy and identify signs of overload

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team!

A BluePearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.


• Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.


• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.


• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.


• Able to set up intravenous fluids.


• Administers subcutaneous fluids.


• Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.


• Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.


• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
