Job summary

VCA TLC Pasadena Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) for our Surgery Department to join a team known for industry-leading medicine. We support clinicians across the greater Los Angeles area with education and collaboration.

This full-time role involves surgical prep, anesthesia monitoring, assisting with exams and procedures, venipuncture, catheter placement, client communication, and comprehensive patient care in a busy hospital.

Qualifications

• RVT credentials valid in California.
• Surgery experience preferred.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital.
• Love for animals and strong clinical empathy.

Responsibilities

• Surgical preparation.
• Anesthesia monitoring.
• Assist doctors with exams, treatments, and procedures.
• Venipuncture and IVC placement.
• Administer SQ fluids, medications, etc.
• Collaborate with all hospital staff to ensure high-quality patient care and monitor subtle changes in status.
• Provide discharge instructions to clients.
• Complete estimates and basic record keeping.
• Assist with advanced phlebotomy, ventilator cases, and radiography/ultrasound support.

Job Type:

Full-time

Schedule:

3 X 12 hour shift: Monday through Wednesday

Experience:

Veterinary experience: 3 years (Preferred)

Salary:

$28 - $36 per hour. Dependent on education, experience, credentials, location, nature of practice, schedule, and additional responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Surgical preparation
• Anesthesia monitoring
• Assist doctors with exams, treatments, and procedures
• Venipuncture and IVC placement
• Administer SQ fluids, medications, etc.
• Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients are receiving the best possible care and communicating frequently with the team. Recognize subtle change in clinical status
• Discharge instructions with clients
• Complete estimates, basic record keeping
• Advanced Phlebotomy
• Monitoring Ventilator Cases
• Diagnostic imaging (radiographs and assisting with ultrasounds)
