Job summary

VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Norwalk, CT is seeking an experienced full-time Surgery Certified Veterinary Technician for our busy Surgery department. We are a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital offering advanced diagnostics and treatment.

Qualifications

  • Licensed/Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with surgery certification preferred.
  • Experience in a busy surgery/dept. is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 emergency environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor anesthesia during procedures.
  • Utilize full technician skills in daily tasks.
  • Record patient histories and perform physical exams.
  • Administer medications and communicate with pet parents.
  • Perform medical calculations and dosing.
  • Perform venipuncture and IV placements.
  • Assist with radiology while ensuring safety.
  • Collaborate with all hospital services to support patients.
  • Provide compassionate care to all patients.

Job description

VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is seeking an experienced fulltime Surgery Certified Veterinary Technician for our busy Surgery department. We are a fast paced, 24 hour emergency and specialty hospital located in Norwalk, CT.

We are passionate about the training, growth and development of our associates. With multiple specialty departments available you will have the opportunity to learn from the best! Our hospital supports services including ER/ICU, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology and Oncology.

Surgery Veterinary Technician Responsibilities:
  • Anesthesia monitoring
  • Full Technician Skill Utilization
  • Collecting patient histories & physical exams
  • Medication refills, and Pet parent communication
  • Proficient in medical calculations
  • Venipuncture / IVC placement
  • Hands Free Radiology (Associate safety a top priority)
  • Working collaboratively with team members of all hospital services
  • Providing compassionate care for all patients
Potential Schedule:

Full time

Compensation

$ 28 - $35/ hour dependent on experience, skill set, and licensure status. (CVT, VTS)
