BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Surgery Veterinary Technician for Surgery treatments, hospitalization, and post-operative care to join our Monroeville, PA, Surgery team!

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 / hour

  • This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through the CareerTrax leveling system.
  • This position qualifies for additional shift differential pay.

You will have the opportunity to work with our Board-Certified Surgeons on cases involving orthopedics, soft tissue, neurological, and more. There are no ER services, no weekend hours, and the hospital is generally closed for the 6 major holidays each year. If you're interested in using the newest innovative anesthetic protocols and anesthetic management, this is the place for you!

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, your responsibilities will include post-operative client communication, observing post-op patients, and working independently while contributing to the team’s goals.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:
  • Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
  • Manage the entire surgical process from pre-op to post-op, including intubation, induction, diagnostics, and patient prep.
  • Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot issues, and manage peri-operative care.
  • Perform physical exams, assess vital signs, and recognize abnormal parameters.
  • Set up and operate intravenous fluids and CRIs, and administer subcutaneous fluids.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, and updates.
