Job summary

Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, OK is seeking an RVT or Veterinary Assistant with equine anesthesia experience to support our busy twelve-doctor practice. You will assist with appointments, procedures, and treatments, monitor hospitalized patients, and safely handle horses in a high-volume setting.

Ideal candidates have excellent communication and organizational skills, can work independently and in a team, and are eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

About Us

Oakridge Equine Hospital located in Edmond, OK is looking for a full-time motivated and energetic individual to support our busy and growing twelve doctor practice that includes 5 boarded equine surgeons, 1 boarded large animal internist and 6 veterinary interns. As a high-volume equine referral practice, we are seeking a candidate who can deliver excellent patient care, naturally has an eagerness to learn, and will grow with our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, procedures and treatments.
  • Monitor and care for hospitalized patients.
  • Safely handle and restrain horses.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and support effective client communication.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, biosecurity, and restocking of equipment and supplies.
  • Run safe and effective equine anesthesia including inhalant and total intravenous anesthesia.
What we are looking for?

The ideal candidate must have excellent communication, organizational and people skills. A background with equine knowledge is a must in addition to strong work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to work independently and in a team environment. The ideal candidate will be someone who will demonstrate initiative and who can quickly grasp the day to day functions of a fast paced working environment.

As a veterinary technician at Oakridge Equine Hospital you will rotate through different services with each surgeon, our boarded internal medicine specialist, intensive care unit (ICU) and anesthesia. To be successful in this position the ideal candidate must be able to adapt from each service they are assigned to daily and have a strong desire to learn the ins and outs of each service they are on.

Previous experience with running anesthesia on horses is preferred. Running anesthesia will be a critical component of this position and candidates who are not comfortable or willing to do this are not encouraged to apply.
