Responsibilities

• Demonstrate highly advanced proficiency as a Veterinary Technician within their department and maintain related skills.
• Create effective working relationships with hospital leadership to ensure standards of care are understood and delivered.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert and resource to Technicians and Assistants regarding daily operations, patient care, and skill development.
• Mentor staff by demonstrating positive work habits, effective clinical skills and business knowledge.
• Identify conflicts in the workplace and seek resolution to foster teamwork.
• Coach staff to create a culture of strong performance and high productivity.
• Clearly communicate with team members to ensure understanding of changes in protocol and policies.
• Build positive relationships across hospital and administration to enable teamwork.
• Implement process improvement initiatives.
• Work with Technician Training Manager to schedule ongoing training.
• Document performance-related issues and provide leadership with recommendations.

As a Specialty Veterinary Technician Supervisor, you will…

• Demonstrate highly advanced proficiency as a Veterinary Technician or Advanced Patient Care Associate within their appropriate department and maintains all related skills and knowledge.
• Create effective working relationships with hospital leadership to ensure standards of care are understood, effectively communicated, and delivered upon.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert and resource to Technicians and Assistants regarding daily operations, patient care, and skill development.
• Serve as a mentor to staff by demonstrating positive work habits, effective clinical skills and business knowledge.
• Identify conflicts in the workplace and seek assistance in resolution in order to create effective working relationships.
• Coach staff to create a culture of strong performance and high productivity.
• Clearly communicate with team members to ensure consistent understanding of new ideas, changes in protocol, policies, and impending changes.
• Build positive relationships across the hospital and administration to facilitate an environment of teamwork.
• Implement process improvement initiatives.
• Work with the Technician Training Manager to schedule ongoing training.
• Document performance-related issues, assesses team members during annual review, and provides hospital leadership with recommendations related to performance management and discipline.
