Job description

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital is hiring an experienced Float Veterinary Technician to join our team. This associate will float between our Neurology and ER departments.

Responsibilities of a Veterinary Technician include:

• Calculating basic medical math.
• Approaching and handling patients compassionately, calmly, and gently.
• Understanding medication classifications, side effects, and monitoring therapeutic responses.
• Administering medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Performing phlebotomy.
• Placing peripheral intravenous catheters in the cephalic vein.
• Alerting the Veterinarian if the patient's status changes or if physical exam or monitoring parameters are outside normal ranges.
• Performing physical exams, including counting heart and respiratory rates, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, and effort.
• Intubating patients under the direction of a Level II technician or higher.
• Supporting Veterinarian and client through the euthanasia process.
• Reading and following orders written on treatment sheets accurately and promptly.

Pay: $24.50 - $47.05 per hour

This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

Examples of shift differentials include:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50
