Shadow Lake Animal Hospital in Ormond Beach is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join a compassionate, mentorship-rich team dedicated to exceptional pet care. You’ll collaborate with veterinarians and support staff to deliver high-quality medical services.

Join a practice that values honest communication, teamwork, and respect, with an onboarding program designed for your success and ongoing education opportunities. Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm, no on-call expectations.

Qualificações

• Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
• Proficiency in compassionately handling and restraining animals, including those stressed or fearful.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with veterinary software for patient records and documentation.

Responsabilidades

• Collaborate with veterinarians, other technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and client service.
• Assist veterinarians with exams, procedures, and surgeries, ensuring equipment and supplies are prepared.
• Administer medications, vaccinations, lab tests, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
• Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical and dental procedures.
• Provide compassionate nursing care to hospitalized and recovering patients, including wound management and fluid therapy.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories.
• Explain treatment plans and updates to pet owners and address questions or concerns.

Shadow Lake Animal Hospital is a full-service small animal hospital serving the Ormond Beach Community since 1977, while offering the gold standard in medical and surgical care. We combine advanced technology (including digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, and endoscopy) with a compassionate, experienced support team who truly love what they do.

We know that starting somewhere new can feel overwhelming; that’s why we’ve built an incredible onboarding program designed to set you up for success. We pair new team members with experienced mentors, provide ongoing education opportunities, and foster an environment where questions are welcomed, and collaboration is celebrated!

Our practice is open Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. We are closed Saturday and Sunday. We have an hour for lunch, and have generous time reserved for writing medical records and for client communication. There are no on-call responsibilities! A Day in the Life:

• Collaborate with a team of veterinarians, other veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and client service.
• Help veterinarians with patient exams, procedures, and surgeries, ensuring all equipment and supplies are prepared and ready.
• Administer medications, vaccinations, lab tests, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
• Laugh uncontrollably at hilarious co-worker’s cat memes
• Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical and dental procedures.
• Provide compassionate nursing care to hospitalized and recovering patients, including wound management, IV catheterization, and fluid therapy.
• Enjoy an un-rushed lunch (because your team has things covered back at the office)
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment, such as radiography and ultrasound machines.
• Communicate with pet owners, explain treatment plans, provide updates on patient status, and address any questions or concerns.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories.
• Get home at a reasonable hour

Skills & Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
• Proficiency in compassionately handling and restraining animals, including those exhibiting stress or fear.
• Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in using veterinary software for patient records and medical documentation.
• Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes.
• Preferred, not required: Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent from an accredited program.
