Job summary

Veterinary Care & Specialty Group (VCSG) in Chattanooga is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join the Radiation Oncology Department. You will assist board-certified oncologists with exams, diagnostics, and radiation treatments, while delivering compassionate nursing care and coordinating with staff across specialties.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years in veterinary medicine, oncology experience preferred, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting, with a preference for oncology or specialty practice.
  • Skilled in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, drug calculations, and other technical skills.
  • Strong medical math skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Board-Certified Radiation Oncologist: Use your skills to assist our board-certified Radiation Oncologists with exams, diagnostic procedures, and radiation treatments.
  • Patient Interventions & CPR: You'll be monitoring patients at risk for cardiac and respiratory arrest and will initiate CPR as needed.
  • Patient Monitoring/Record Keeping: You'll be performing patient assessments using various monitoring techniques and communicating with pet owners about their pet's history and at-home care.
  • Diagnostics: You'll be hands-on using various diagnostics, including MRI, CT, and radiology. You will also be obtaining and handling patient samples for in-house and reference lab testing.
  • Patient Monitoring: Oncology patients require intensive monitoring before, during, and after procedures. Your role will be to provide compassionate care and support, ensuring patients' safety and comfort while keeping detailed records.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with our amazing team to deliver comprehensive care and have a blast while doing it!
  • Patient Advocacy : Advocate for the well‑being and comfort of patients from the moment they arrive until they are discharged.
