Job summary

Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center (DVSC) in North Dallas is hiring a Veterinary Technician, Patient Care. You will provide nursing care and surgical support, work with surgeons, monitor patients, and ensure pain management throughout recovery and hospitalization.

This full-time role offers 4x10 hour shifts, 7:00am–5:00pm, weekends required, with a $20–$23/hr salary based on experience. Benefits include health, 401(k), HSA/FSA, life and disability insurance, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician with passion for patient care.
• Experience in surgical nursing and anesthesia assistance.

Job Description:

The Patient Care Veterinary Technician provides exceptional nursing care and technical support to surgical and hospitalized patients. This role works closely with surgeons and the specialty team to ensure patients receive attentive monitoring, pain management, and compassionate care throughout recovery and hospitalization.

Responsibilities:

• IV catheter placement, blood drawing, and IV fluid maintenance
• Surgical recovery, post-op pain management, and patient monitoring
• Radiographs, surgical prep, and induction assistance
• Daily upkeep of the patient care ward and accurate patient documentation
• Compassionate client communication and patient-focused care

Qualifications:

• You are a Licensed Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Technician dedicated to outstanding client service and excellent patient care.
• You are dedicated to maintaining a positive, respectful, uplifting hospital culture and genuinely love working with people that share that same value.
• Take the initiative – you are a * hard worker who contributes to the operation of the entire hospital*, you will help get all the day’s duties done!
• You are versatile – you know how to effectively adapt to the individual needs of each patient and are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of patients and their families.
• You possess clinical skills and experience that include (but are not limited to):
  • Safe patient restraint
  • Excellent client service
  • Phlebotomy and catheter placement
  • Knowledge of radiology safety and proper technique
  • Proficient in post-op monitoring and care of surgical patients
  • Solid foundation of knowledge of common veterinary medications
  • Individualized, patient-focused nursing
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required; multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
