Red Bank Veterinary Hospital is seeking an Overnight Inpatient Technician to care for hospitalized patients under the guidance of the supervising veterinarian. The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, with experience in emergency settings and proficiency with EMR systems.

The position is based in Red Bank, NJ, with a schedule of Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00am to 8:00pm, at a modern, 100,000+ sq ft facility offering MRI, CT, PET, and extensive training

Qualifications

• LVT, CVT, or RVT credential preferred.
• Three years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in a veterinary hospital.
• Experience in emergency or specialty hospital preferred.
• Fluent English (speaking and reading) required.
• Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for hospitalized patients per veterinarian evaluation and RBVH hospitalization levels.
• Collaborate with doctors, technicians, and assistants to perform diagnostics and treatments.
• Monitor patient vitals, mentation, pain scores; perform nursing procedures and advanced care as needed.
• Maintain accurate records, operate equipment, stock supplies, and follow hospital policies.

We are seeking an Overnight Inpatient Technician who is personable, self-motivated, and a strong communicator with excellent organizational skills. In this role, you will assist with a variety of daily tasks while collaborating closely with all departments across the hospital.

Compensation

• Credentialed Technicians: $27 - $37/hr. based on experience
• Non-Credentialed Technicians: $24 - $32/hr. based on experience

Job Description

The Inpatient Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide care for the hospitalized patients that are deemed stable according to the veterinarian’s evaluation and RBVH’s defined levels of hospitalization. This individual will assess patients and facilitate treatments under the direction of the supervising veterinarian. They will have excellent communication with the supervising veterinarian and address concerns with the patients as they arise. The Inpatient Technician is expected to work with all doctors, technicians, and assistants to perform diagnostics and execute treatment plans for the hospitalized patient

Responsibilities

Patient Care & Nursing Skills

• Basic husbandry and care for domestic and exotic patients
• Monitor patient status: vitals, mentation, pain score
• Nursing procedures: phlebotomy, IVC/IVF therapy, cystocentesis, urinary catheter care, medication administration (oral, topical, injectable), restraint, in- and out-patient care, abdominocentesis/thoracocentesis/pericardiocentesis, oxygen cage operation, transfusion therapy, PICC line care, recumbent patient care, feeding and sampling line care
• Triage, sedation/anesthesia monitoring, recognize CPA & initiate CPR

Medical Knowledge

• Disease processes and disinfection protocols
• Basic anatomy, physiology, pharmacology (Cubex use, common medications)
• Medical math, lab skills (basic bloodwork, lab submissions), radiograph positioning, medical terminology

Technical & Administrative Skills

• Record keeping, equipment operation, stocking and cleaning, aftercare
• Knowledge and adherence to hospital policies

Qualifications

• LVT, CVT, or RVT credential preferred
• Three years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician in a veterinary hospital.
• Previous experience working in an emergency or specialty veterinary hospital preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency with computers, electronic medical records, and data entry.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency and critical care environment.
• Fluent English skills (speaking and reading) required.
• RECOVER CPR certification a plus.
• Experience managing critically ill and hospitalized patients preferred.
